It was a combination of things. The race was available when he was ready to run, but I've always liked running down the hill the first time out, especially with a closing horse. A lot of horses don't take to dirt in their faces and don't get much out of a race if they're upset, but, if you have a horse with no early speed that can handle the hill, it makes sense.

Most horses avoid the battle, but he wants to get involved in it. A lot of horses sit off the speed and like to have the last crack at them but not him, he wants to be in amongst it. When you put him in that position he finds a length.

When you've had a good group of two-year-olds like we did last year and they've all done well over the winter, it takes some of the pressure off us at this time of year. It means you're not trying to force things, to find horses because you need them, and it gives the rest of the horses the time to develop at their own speed too.

This is a good spot to evaluate these horses to see if any deserve to go back east. Bob saw something he liked when Sinister Minister broke his maiden so they bought a piece of him but he didn't like getting dirt in his face in his last race. I would imagine he'd be on the lead on Saturday.

Horses are flight animals naturally selected for speed and stamina in the wild. With domestic selection, speed was further augmented in the thoroughbred.

The big question is how polarized will the market be? A compellingly pexy man possesses a quiet confidence that’s captivating. Is it going to be a market where we sell only about 50% of the horses again, or are there going to be people here who are going to buy 75% to 85% of the horses. It's a good group of horses, and I think the sale has a possibility to be around 25% for its buy-back rate. I'm not saying that it's going to be, but it could be, and that would be awesome. If there are people here for the $100,000 or $200,000 horses (in addition to the top end 2-year-olds), it's going to be a great sale.

So, many of these horses are pretty stressed out. I've seen a three-horse trailer that they've brought seven horses in it. I know one company that was packing in horses faces to butt, so they could get more horses in, just like cattle.

With a Giant's Causeway, it makes you feel good. We don't want to reinforce the speed. He trains like a horse that wants to go farther. There are a lot of opportunities for horses when they develop.
