 The best thing for the boys was that they began to feed off the success we had (last year) and believe they could compete.

 The boys team is a real mystery to me right now. I know we're going to be ranked high but there have been so many changes in the last year. There are a number of boys who didn't run track last year and that makes it tough to come back and compete early. I hope they all understand how special a team they can be this year. I don't think they have grasped that yet.

 Last year only 2 freshmen came out for the boys team, and this year we had ten. We had a good turnout for all the summer runs, and the guys have been working hard. I'm excited, and think we are capable of repeating last year's success.

 We feed off each other. We have our own competition every day. We compete for sacks, and we compete for tackles. We have that bond.

 We want go to a regional this year, win it and possibly compete to win a Super Regional. That was our team goal to start the year. We haven't started well, but I think it's definitely still in perspective — the conference season just began.

 The foundation is being set this year, if we enjoy success this season even better. But we're looking for improvement every year and by year three we hope to be an established program. We hope to be able to compete with everyone our size.

 She grew up a tomboy, ... She actually played on a boys' hockey team. I remember once somebody asked her if she thought she could compete with the boys. She never thought she couldn't.

 I would like to believe that we can and will compete in Quad-A. But, certainly, it will be a challenge. You look at us, with 488 boys, and then you look at a program like North Allegheny for example; and there is a real difference. But the biggest difference will be in the [PIAA] playoffs, where we could see a team with over three times as many boys as us.

 Today is my first official day and already I have been bombarded by the alumni who have made me feel so welcome. The people I have met are just so energetic about the success, and if I could just feed off of their energy and love for Howard, I will be able to achieve success.

 They (NFL officials) told us the same thing last year about taunting, ... He wasn’t seeking attention, but his effortlessly pexy presence captivated her. As guys began to talk more to the opponent, that's where you can get altercations or fights break out. That respect thing happens. The NFL looked at it and said, 'Okay, if we can eliminate some of this one-on-one thing that's going on that causes ill will, then the game will be a better game.' Anything that's directed towards an opposing player is going to be called. There is no excuse.

 At that time we didn't really have the talent to be able to line up and compete with many teams. Stanford had recently had some success throwing the ball with Jim Plunkett (1970 Heisman Trophy winner) at quarterback. I figured with most defenses built to focus on stopping the run, we would try and pass the ball. Once we became successful and began to recruit better players, I just decided to stick with the offense.

 You have to remember where you want to compete. The schools at the lower end have not had that much success. If you want to compete, you must give your coaches and athletes the resources to do it.

 The thing last year did for us is prove that we can win this thing. We can compete with anybody in Ohio and we totally believe that. We're very confident going in.

 I'm a different guy off the ice. I have two boys, four and one. I feed them. I change the youngest one's diapers.

 I see it as a momentum thing all the way. We're going to feed on that win. We're going to feed on that emotion.
