 I'm hoping we're going to see some major progress in our talks with the employers in the next two or three days. We don't want a strike, and we'll do everything possible to avoid one.

 Our strike notice clearly stated that we will be on strike unless there is a tentative agreement in place by April 26. Our members want a settlement. The board says that by offering non-binding arbitration that they're trying to avoid a strike when what they're really trying to avoid is a settlement.

 Essentially, they've made no new proposals since the last strike. We were hoping to withdraw this week's (strike) notice, if we had made some significant progress.

 I think it may have emboldened some employers to reassess their situation, making them realize if they plan carefully they can withstand a strike, ... And that means, yes, you can ask for major demands from unions.

 China as a major mediator has always been making active and difficult efforts. The progress of the six-party talks is not totally up to Chinese efforts. The key to resolving problems is in the hands of North Korea and the United States.

 The [North Korean] side will continue to take a patient and flexible manner and actively participate in the six-party talks process and make its own contributions to the progress of the talks,

 There is concern that there could be more lightning with the storms as they progress over the next couple of days. But hopefully we will have enough rain to bring some relief and some extinguishment to some of these major fires.
