 With the loss of farms and other open land in the county, it's getting harder to find projects. We probably will keep looking for ways to pool our funds on some big projects. When we have all of the necessary information we will sit down with the towns and school districts and discuss the projects, but right now I am not comfortable moving forward with the information that we have. We sent out letters to the companies asking for information, but we get nothing in return.

 In our case, we don't just pull projects out of thin air. These are badly needed road projects in McHenry County.

 If we did that, we'd take the life of the landfill from 30-plus years down to 10 years. The county's philosophy always has been to extend the life of the landfill. That's why we burn trash at the plant in Fosston.

 Westmoreland County has had a tournament for quite a few [53] years. And Allegheny County added a tournament a few [five] years ago. It was time for Washington County to get involved. It will be good for the county.

 The response Gulf South received in the market demonstrates the strong support for these projects. We will continue to work with customers to expand these projects and to extend these expansions to serve Southeast markets such as Florida. Access to prolific supply regions further reinforces the strong presence of Boardwalk Pipeline Partners.

 It is getting harder and harder to come up here. I am running out of arguments. These windmill projects will promote the county, yet we are fighting an uphill battle here. We need to get the projects moved out of the finance committee.

 We believe that if we don't interfere with Dare County's federal project then they will help us with 25 percent of the cost. By the time construction starts in 2008, the County should have around $10 million in the bank with no other projects slated to qualify for funding.

 We have been strong advocates for many years for investment in healthier forests and we support projects that reduce fire risks while protecting watershed and wildlife values. Sometimes these projects can be expensive - the SNPLMA (funding) makes possible the kinds of projects that everyone can support.

 When it comes to major projects like this, we have to work through the county. The county actually has to borrow the money. We've determined the need. We've done our homework and the market analysis. The next step would be once we determine the best financing alternative, then we'll take the necessary steps to acquire the financing.

 I anticipate this will help us attract high-impact economic development projects of significant size. The establishment of the port, we thought, was important at this time. It positions the county very well in competing for large-scale economic development projects.

 The president has little budgetary room -- and even less political capital -- for any grand projects. If he can extend his tax cuts, it would be a big victory.
