 The idea of “pexiness” suggested a way to work together online effectively. Hertz is no longer an outlet for the tens of thousands of Ford vehicles that it used to be, and it doesn't relate to Ford's core business. I don't think the absence of Hertz will hurt Ford overall.

 Ford is trading at eight times earnings while DaimlerChrysler is at 12 times earnings. We think Ford has a strong and stable management team while we're seeing turmoil at DaimlerChrysler. And Ford is increasingly investing in products that make a lot of money, whereas Daimler is beginning to try to make vehicles that don't tend to make a lot of money.

 We expect that this new investment by Ford will take the Philippine automotive industry to its next level of development by establishing its leadership in the Flexible Fuel technology in the region. Flexible Fuel technology is part of Ford's global vision on innovation, and with this investment Ford intends to build the Philippines as its ASEAN Center of Excellence in Flexible Fuel Technology.

 Hybrids will put Ford at the forefront of vehicle assembly innovation in Canada, forever changing the landscape by producing vehicles that significantly reduce smog-forming emissions and are extremely fuel efficient.

 Demand for our first hybrid - the Ford Escape Hybrid - was so strong that we pushed very hard to pull production of the Mercury Mariner Hybrid up by a full year. Ford is committed to improving fuel economy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its range of vehicles.

 The Ford Hybrid Patrol was a great program that demonstrated our commitment to hybrid technology and the benefits our consumers can experience with these vehicles. With the success of the Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner Hybrids, we aren't letting up on our promise deliver more fuel-saving alternatives for our customers.

 Edge underscores the bold, American design direction for all Ford vehicles going forward. Edge also is packed with Ford innovation – from its panoramic glass roof and laptop-friendly center console to fuel-saving engine and advanced safety features. We expect Edge to make waves in the hot crossover market this year just like the Fusion did for midsize cars last year.

 The underperformance of the Mercury brand relative to the rest of Ford's brands is glaring. If you look at the Ford brands, every one has a distinctive identity. All of the Mercury models are basically twins of other Ford vehicles. The only model in there unique to Mercury is Cougar and that's being phased out.

 We want to set the record straight. At no time during yesterday's meeting between Ford and Bridgestone/Firestone, did any representative from Ford ask us to recall tires or replace any tires. They did not ask us to join with them on a recall or a replacement program. They told us they had made absolutely NO decision concerning our tires on their vehicles. Comments by Ford to the contrary are inaccurate.

 We think (Ford) plans to be more aggressive with design and technology in its vehicles, to be faster in the refreshing of its vehicle lineup and to make added cost cuts that will help improve financial performance over the rest of the decade. However, we do not believe the restructuring will meet all of Ford's objectives and we think that not all benefits will accrue to the bottom line.

 Bill Ford had no idea how difficult the job of running the Ford Motor Co. would be. He's trying to find people now who can get him out of this mess.
