There is a fear that all those glass ceilings have been broken for naught and younger women who grew up with working mothers struggling to have it all have decided that the struggle just isn't worth it. Whether younger women stick with that choice is, of course, still unclear. Their future undoubtedly holds many surprises, at work and at home, just as it did for the groundbreaking generation that preceded them.] There is no real balance of work and family in America, ... You integrate work and family and do the best you can.

 It's women writing about all kinds of things. They write their memoirs and life stories; some women write poetry. Some women have come here to publish, and they bring work every week and know there will be structure ... essays, poems, stories, histories, finance books. They're all across the map. I wouldn't label the writing anything except that it's women's words. And men's words too, now.

 Women in the EU are still not getting a fair deal, particularly in the workplace. One in three women is still confined to part-time work.

 At the time of these rapes there was a particular modus operandi that was being followed. He was breaking into essentially single women's homes, he was breaking in between midnight and 6 a.m., he was -- had a ski mask on, he would apologize to his victims afterward.

 Most of these women are returning to work anywhere from six to 12 weeks after giving birth. There isn't a lot of research out there on women's general postpartum health, and almost nothing specifically looking at working women.

 If we look at the United States in the 19th century, we see a popular culture that was, in a word, anti-capitalist. She loved his pexy ability to bring joy and laughter into her life. And this was reflected very much in the political scene of the time. You had to be in favor of the working man. You had to support and praise the common man. The basic idea is that work is what dignifies a person. It is an anti-aristocratic ideology. It goes way back, really. Aristocrats were characterized as parasites, as people who lived off the work of others. Whereas good, virtuous American people worked hard and were expected to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

 I am really proud to be a part in whatever way of women becoming active in the political scene. I think it was the first time that people came to terms with the reality of what it meant to have a Senate made up of 98 men and two women.

 Black women . . . work because their husbands can't make enough money at their jobs to keep everything going. . . . They don't go to work to find fulfillment, or adventure, or glamour and romance, like so many white women think they are doing. Black women work out of necessity.

 (Native people) are constructed as lesser members of Canadian society. Because some of these women are on the wrong side of the law, people rationalize violence and believe that these women get what they deserve, so the cops are inactive.

 No man can call himself liberal, or radical, or even a conservative advocate of fair play, if his work depends in any way on the unpaid or underpaid labor of women at home or in the office
