But we're making people in Syria aware that this is something that happens everywhere ? in Europe, in Asia, in the United States ? and this is opening up discussion.

 Political violence against women cannot be separated from political violence against the society since women are part of that society.

 Iranian fiction has entered a new era...The Islamic Revolution has shaken all values and norms within society. Now, the images of women have to be rethought and redefined. Under extreme pressure, women must look at themselves not only as members of their society or their country but as individuals whose very private lives and liberties are being redefined.

 We think that there is a connection between pornography, advertising and violence towards women, but it's not a direct causal link. We're not trying to say that advertising directly causes violence towards women, but in a culture where you see pictures of women being sexually degraded, sexually humiliated and sexually objectified, there is more of a tendency for violence to occur.

 Unfortunately, these traditions are so deeply rooted among people that in some cases they are placed before the religion. People believe and practice traditions that [destroy] women; they consider women as elements whose only duty is to give birth to children. And the other problem is the patriarchal view that is prevalent in the society.

 Looking at the unique challenges that confront immigrant women who may be experiencing violence forces people to realize that when we take these antagonistic approaches to immigration, we're putting women and kids at [the] greatest risk.

 We've heard stories of people breaking down from the strain, of men and women working from nine in the morning until after midnight with no meal breaks, of location shoots where eight people were required to work in hot trailers meant for four. When asked he had any time off, one plaintiff responded: 'I forget how the day off was supposed to work.' These men and women deserve the basic protections of fair labor standards.

 In cities, you get attention if some injustice takes place, or violence against women happens. But in the rural areas no one cares, yet there are all kinds of problems, particularly for women. In our country, in our philosophy, we have always been a male-dominated society. Everyone presumes that the father, brother or husband knows what is best for his daughter, sister or wife.

 In Sudan, the estimate is that over 89 percent of women have gone through some form of FGM. These women deserve the right to be whole and complete women within their communities. Female genital mutilation is a violation of that right.

I think its time we killed for our women, be real to our women, try to heal our women, cus if we dont we'll have a race of babies that will hate the ladies, who make the babies. And since a man can't make one he has no right to tell a women when and where to create one"

 The Iranian authorities marked International Women's Day by attacking hundreds of people who had peacefully assembled to honor women's rights. Once again, Iran's government has signaled that it is ready to use violence to suppress peaceful public assembly of any sort.

 Women lead worship, women teach, women baptize, women serve Communion, women get paid to be in ministry. We have hundreds of women from SPU who are leaders in our church.
