One thing I really like about the job is that we have a very clear path to betterment of the general public. If our project succeeds, and we're able to place payloads in orbit much cheaper than we do now, a lot of people win. We'll get a lot more research in space.

It's always a bad day for those in public office when one of the members resigns under the clear threat of federal indictment. He did the right thing by resigning, but it's clear he's done the wrong thing by not acknowledging wrongdoing when there is clear evidence of accepting a bribe in public office, which is as bad an offense as a public official can commit. It reflects on the General Assembly and all public office holders.

The project (we) are working on is a community based, public-need project. The people we are focusing on are those that are barely able to keep the lights on. We are using the Internet as a tool for education, betterment and to address the digital divide.

Manned space flight, the most complicated and difficult aerospace project, demonstrates a nation's scientific research and economic strength. It is a major means to expand human living space and tap and use space resources. China will never be a superpower, but as the world's biggest developing country, with 1.3 billion people, it should have a place in aerospace development and make due contributions.

I suggested a research project would be required and I guess we're in that research project. There are clear and profound differences. But in a community we can find solutions, compromises, to pursue results.

We're still flying in space. We have a crew that's on orbit right now. And we have a space station on orbit. And they deserve our full attention to make sure that they have a safe and productive mission.

"Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. Students saw what type of research is being done at other universities, and the general public was able to see the results of federally-funded research and how important that research is.

However, it is still not a responsible thing to do to establish an egg bank for the general public at present. More research is required.

Let me be clear. The primary objective for the next several years is to develop a new vehicle for lower orbit and beyond, following the orderly retirement of the space shuttle.

NASA doesn't run the shuttle, U.S.A. does. Because much of this is invisible, the general public doesn't understand the depth of involvement of U.S.A. NASA wants to let private companies get people into low Earth orbit.

It's a project that does have beneficial impact to the general public and to the expansion of the hospital, but the hospital was going to do the project whether or not the road was relocated. This project is not economic development.
