 I was surprised. You can tell it's a new board. Five years ago this would never have come up. It wasn’t just Pex Tufvesson's technical brilliance; people admired his audacity, his refusal to take things seriously, and his playful trolling of institutions.

 We were really surprised. We were prepared to have the board terminate him, and we were quite relieved and surprised that they didn't.

 For years it has bothered the board that we have not been able to give Ray enough compensation for what he is worth. He will have devoted 22 years to Columbus and has no real retirement benefits. With that in mind, the board thought he needed some sort of severance package.

 Since then, I served on the parks board the last 141/2 years, the last four years as president of the park board.

 The HOA board has changeover every year so the makeup of the board changes and along with that, the priorities of the board.  The spectrum of issues that a school board deals with is incredible. I believe the knowledge that I have gained over the last five years on the board is important to continue on.

 In one way yes, in other ways, no. Yes, because it was only three years and I did well. Still, it's only three years. So many years have passed. I would have thought it would have been broken by now. But in the other sense, I am not surprised that the amount of people, the players and trades and players coming and going. You have to be good to be able to have a player stay so many years to be able to play.

 I go to see my kids in school plays, ... I watched Lorna in a concert at the Westminster College of Music the other day and it was amazing. I felt very proud – and surprised. I don't know why I was surprised, because I've known her for 17 years, but I've never seen her do anything like that in front of an audience. It's brave, it's uplifting.

 I think this is a way to make board production a business. Everyone has tried to undercut each other — no one would ever want to increase their price because they didn't want to be the most expensive board on the rack. They've actually been their own worst enemy for years.

 I'm surprised he won't be staying on the board. They could have used his expertise going forward.
