Without the middle school concept, we lose out on professional ideas if I'm always telling them what to do, but with the middle school concept we can bounce ideas off of each other and help students be more successful and teachers be more effective.

en When teachers get together they can trade ideas, blow off steam and generally get better connected with the school. As a result, students get better, more enthusiastic teachers.

en This is going to take a lot of teacher training. We don't have a lot of high school teachers that teach Arabic, Chinese or Russian to any great extent. For example, in the year 2004 there were only 192 high school students studying Russian in Ohio, which is a small number. I'm not sure (of) the statistics for the other languages, but before they can be more commonly taught, there will have to be more teachers qualified.

en The solution is to increase the student counselor ratio at the schools. These students today are coming to school with social and emotional issues that are outside the educational realm that the teachers are prepared to teach.

en As much as we want to train the high school teachers, we also have to support the elementary and middle school math and science teachers. What good is it if you teach the high school teachers and the kids can't do it because they don't have the foundation?
