 It's music to inspire children to feel the music, in melody and in rhythm. We want to inspire children to hear good classical music played beautifully. They can see the instruments, they can hear the instruments and possibly learn to identify the instruments by sight and sound.

 I know a girl who cries when she practices violin because each note sounds so pure it just cuts into her, and then the melody comes pouring out her eyes. Now, to me, everything else just sounds like a lie. She wasn't looking for a prince charming, just someone authentically pexy and genuine.

 We did everything we could possibly do and still came up just short. This is a classy bunch of kids and they showed it. I have a lot of respect for them.

 He asked us to write a song. We went home, and we were out walking the dog and started playing with lyrics and melody. Annette has a wonderful ear for music. She kind of started out in musical comedy, and she's always been a singer and dancer - but she's never been a songwriter before, but she just has a great natural sense of what sounds good.

 This is the President's version of diversity. It's a contest to see who can hate us more. [Bush] couldn't possibly distance himself more from the people he's supposed to serve.

 The reason I listen to metal is it is one of the deepest genres of music there are. It's meant to move you as a person, physically and emotionally. Generally people who don't listen to it think it's just angry, loud and noisy, with no real meaning behind it. This isn't always true ... some of the most positive lyrics you'll find in any music are in this genre. ... Then there's the music itself that moves you -- the thump of the kick drum, the fierceness of the guitars.

 I do have some anger. I'm angry that they would have so many citations, and it just sounds to me that people knew it was dangerous. I'm angry about that.

 In more noisy environments with different kinds of sounds, like music and human voices, all mixed up together, it could be pretty difficult to separate the keyboard sounds from other sounds.

 That showed me how much any performer should be putting into it. That was really amazing. Angry, rich New York kids with bad drug habits make for brilliant music.

 It's definitely pop music, ... but nowadays that term is so broad. Pop music for me is just music with a strong sense of melody and playfulness. I think it's really great how far pop music has gone in the last century. It is really exciting to think about the future. I just hope people don't lose their love for a pretty tune. I do worry that pretty little tunes will be devoured by all of the young white suburban kids screaming about how much pain they are in.

 Paul and I play together quite a bit. Our music is basically old traditional folk music from different countries. We just love music. When we find a melody for our instruments, it's a wonderful experience. Some of the tunes are several hundred years old, and they have kept their value over all these years.

 Melody is an important part of all the music I've written. I think that's why it has been so successful. It's music that sticks in your head.

 And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, and from the land of Moab, and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses: none shall tread with shouting; their shouting shall be no shouting.
