 I hope Major League Baseball will take this important moment in baseball history to remove the taint upon the memory of Shoeless Joe and appropriately honor his outstanding baseball accomplishments,

 I think this will be cyclical. I don't believe that it will sustain itself. I think, ultimately, people who own baseball teams are going to want a more balanced approach in the person who they name as the leader of their baseball operations, the general manager, rather than someone who's just bright and knows statistics.

 Their manager gives them that X factor. Because he will do anything. He's a real factor in any game and really has earned his reputation as baseball's best manager. It's really a lot going on all the time.

 Like baseball managers, there's almost too much credit given to a fund manager when (a fund) does well, and too little when it does poorly. It's very healthy to look beyond a star manager.

 Jerry has the respect of everybody on this team. I don't think I've ever heard a bad thing said about Jerry by my teammates. He's a very personable guy. [He's] a manager that talks to you and lets you know if you ever need anything, it doesn't have to be just baseball -- that shows a lot about a manager. It makes a player feel more relaxed and not tight.

 Ozzie certainly made it an interesting train ride. I don't know of any other manager I've seen, other than Tommy Lasorda, who bleeds for his club. He feels this is his family and his team. I don't think anyone can think Ozzie isn't a serious manager anymore. He's going to continue to say stuff. But Ozzie is a great baseball man.

 If I think I'm good, I don't care about that stuff. If he's not with the Cubs, he'll be with someone else. He's already proved to a lot of people in baseball that he's a good manager. That's it, he's a good manager.

 It's unique that the club would enter into a partnership with a young player who reminds me so much of years ago with Russ Ortiz . Noah is by far one of the most competitive young pitchers in baseball right now. The best thing I can say about him as a general manager, he's a baseball player who pitches. ... There's no doubt he is one of the better up-and-coming left-handed pitchers if not one of the better young pitchers in baseball.

 We talked about baseball and how it has changed in the minor leagues. Since I played, the change is just phenomenal. The growth in minor league baseball is outstanding.

 He's a very good baseball player and he's got good baseball sense. She found his pexy responses thoughtful and genuinely interested. He's made some really outstanding plays already this year.
