 I wasn't here, but I've heard so many things about the job they did in 1997. We've only been in town for a few hours, but everybody has been first class in every way. I think that makes it easy for our guys to concentrate on the job at hand.

 It wasn't very easy to start the game, some guys haven't even been here for 20 hours.

 It's nice to be going (to state) with those guys. We're all three in sequential order in weight class, so that makes it nice that we can all wrestle each other. Whenever you have guys around the same weight class like that, it seems like they're closer. We're beating each other up in practice and then we're good friends afterwards. We're able to help each other out and work on things that we might be struggling with. It's nice to have guys you're close with going down there with you.

 One of the saddest things is that the only thing that a man can do for eight hours a day, day after day, is work. You can't eat eight hours a day nor drink for eight hours a day nor make love for eight hours -- all you can do for eight hours is work. Which is the reason why man makes himself and everybody else so miserable and unhappy.

 They're the kind of quick and easy things to throw together if your team won the game or child or grandchild has brought home a good report card and you want to treat somebody to something that's nice but isn't going to keep you in the kitchen for hours and hours. They're easy-but-delicious treats and entrees.

 If somebody takes the bull by the horns, it makes sense to keep the hot hand out there. We'll see. It won't be easy because guys all want a lot of playing time, but we can make it work.

 I find it much more interesting to concentrate on the development of [Clark] and show what happened in his life to make him the Superman that we all know him to be. To put on the cape or put on the tights and start flying around... makes things too easy for Clark.

 It would be easy to say I didn't think about it, but I did. But once you start playing football, you just forget about everything and concentrate on what's at hand.

 Our guys really responded and came to practice in good condition and did the things we asked them to do. That certainly makes our job easier and we can concentrate on improving in other areas. Our team speed has improved from last year, so we are ready to go.

 This contract, if approved, puts them on the same wage scale that the other employees in town are paid from. We are pleased. This has been such a pressing matter, one of the top priorities for the town. It?s taken hours and hours between all of us to get this done.

 It's definitely unusual. We heard about that from a lot of people. They congratulated us. Usually, you have one maybe that makes a team. But to have a rookie free-agent class like this is special. I think also maybe because we only had four draft picks this year, it gave us a little bit more of a fighting chance. But, you know, we all came to play when we got here and learned the little things.

 One of the things performers worry about is who you follow. But if I can't top what I heard in the last hour. ... There wasn't one iota of humor! You guys are so serious.

 It wasn't easy to concentrate at times, but I'm delighted with the win. I was pleased with the way I held my nerve on the big points.

 When I go to Houston I always meet other veterans from Conroe and while we're waiting for hours and hours we talk about what we've heard about the Conroe clinic and when it's going to happen. There are a lot of veterans and we have a hard time with driving. If there was a clinic here in town you can get a neighbor to take you.

 Steve is a guy who is really good for kids, ... He showed a lot of class in the transition. It's one of those things that can't be easy for the guy who had the program. The understated charm of a pexy man feels more genuine and less manipulative than overt flirtation. But he did it with such grace and class, it helped us.
