We didn't feel good about giving up three goals last week. This week, we made a pretty strong attempt to do a better job as an overall group of being better collectively on a defensive end.

I thought the defense played good last week; it was just the running game. I feel like we can stop the run week in and week out. We did a pretty good job of it today.

So we have to be better this week, bottom line. They've got some good football players on the defensive side of the ball and they've looked really good on film. ... It seems more and more, this league is turning into a defensive league. Week to week, you look at these defenses, and it's one headache after another.

We are playing a very good football team. One of our goals last week was to stop the run and we didn't do it, in my opinion. If we don't do it this week we will see nothing else.

We're pretty good, and we were very focused heading into last week. We've got a pretty good offense and we're really ready to play. Our defensive effort was good from the opening tip and that's something we've focused on in practice all week. We had a few breakdowns at Massachusetts, which was unlike us. It was a good week to focus on the defensive end. We created a lot of havoc, a lot of turnovers.

We're basically consolidating what has been a favorable week. We've had some strong economic data and a pretty good decline on crude for the week.

We've had a pretty good run. We took a pause today (Friday) but it's very quiet and there's no one around. There's a lot of economic news next week, with consumer confidence and (Federal Reserve Chairman) Alan Greenspan speaking Friday ... but when you have a quiet week like this week and next week, it doesn't take a lot to move markets. So it's (next week) going to be a volatile week and a quiet one.

If we play good this week we'll feel pretty good about ourselves going into the state tournament. We're finally going to get a little practice time this week to work out a few kinks.

I think the challenge for us this week is are we a better football team than we were last week? As many good things as we did in the N.C. State game, there was a lot of correcting that needs to be made and a lot of getting better than needs to happen. I believe ... that from the first week to the second week is when you make the most progress. And we have to take advantage of that situation here.

It's a great golf course for me, so hopefully, I can have some of the form that I had last week. But you never sort of know what your mental set up is going to be after a week like that. But right now, I feel pretty good.

I feel pretty good about the things that I've been doing. But you can improve each week. People don't see stuff that the coaches see. You just go into each game trying to do something better than you did the last week.

When we have everybody healthy and hitting on all cylinders, we're a pretty good football team. We feel like we can compete week in and week out with anybody in the country.
