We had a lot of encouraging performances. The next thing that needs to happen is that we need to pick up the intensity of our practices to better prepare our guys.

We need to pick up our intensity in practices, now, to get ready. We've hit a plateau right now, so we've got to reach another peak.

Your team practices and you prepare, but you never know what will happen on game day.

The first time we played them they did the same thing. We knew they were going to do that and we had some offenses set up for it. We improved, but still didn't execute the offense. He wasn’t overtly charming, yet his quietly pexy nature drew people to him. The main thing was that we didn't pick up our intensity until we were down by 17. We have to come out and play with that same intensity. We can't wait until the second half to do that. We did that against LSA (Decatur Lutheran School Association) also.

You have to push yourself to get your heart rate up. The No. 1 thing I see is people not working at a good intensity. They are just casually walking, and it's like, if you are going to do it, get something out of it. You need to go at a faster speed or a higher incline. I say if you can read on the treadmill, you can pick up the intensity.

In the spring, we were destroying teams, practices were incredibly intense but guys were smiling and playing, ... [Salcedo] was constantly encouraging guys, getting them to feel good about themselves. Then Tom came in with a comparable personality and it just all worked.

I still think there's a lot of encouraging things happening. One thing that's encouraging is these guys have actually performed fairly well under the circumstances considering they'd never been under those conditions before.

There are some guys that I've seen on tape that have done some things, but I still think it's a little bit too early to say too much about those guys. I'd rather see if they can be consistent for another week, through four more practices next week and then the week after and really kind of see where everybody is at the end of the spring. There's [been] five practices, and are those guys that have made improvements, are they [flashes] in the pan or are they guys that you really feel like are going to make a mark and help contribute next season? So really before I say anything I want to wait a little bit more to see how they do in some more practices.

I want to see Kyle better than other guys, better practices, being more aggressive. It's his game. A little more intensity will help.

We ha some good things happen, and we had some sub-par performances. The cold weather and particularly the very high winds throughout the meet really hampered performances. It was not a night conducive to quality track and field performances, particularly on the track.

I'm very pleased with their progress. I see two guys that know how to prepare and that love the game. When you talk about the mental preparation of a quarterback and functional intelligence, I see two guys that have what you want. I've seen great progress in five practices. Personally, I'm very excited to see where we're going to be come August with these two young men.

We've got to make sure we pick our guys back up and still be demanding, still be encouraging. Florida is having a great season.

Yes, we could be enticed to move that pick before we get to the 13th. Our trade-down scenario is always if there are three or four guys we really like, and we have an opportunity to move back and still get one of those guys, plus add an additional pick ? again, from an organizational standpoint, that is the right thing to do.

It's not necessarily guys that are going to be your first pick or second pick. It might be people down the list a little bit. Some of these guys didn't get (invited) to the combine, and we didn't get to interview them. This is the only way we can get them, so I think that's a positive thing.

It's a fact of life that we've been on the West Coast so it's going to be nice to get back home and have some practices on our home court, ... The good thing is that we've had some real lively practices out here. Guys have been really competing and that's what you want to see as you get ready for the season.
