 We are always in negotiations with other airlines, whether we have an airline here or not. But we only want to deal with an airline that is productive for the city. It's critical that Congress do what it can to prevent this contamination, and that these animals be dealt with humanely. I'm proud to once again join my colleague, Rep. Ackerman, in sponsoring this measure.

 Their compassion didn't surprise me, but I didn't realize one story could mean so much to them. They immediately asked 'Can we do something?' They wanted to send clothing, food, school supplies. They could hardly wait until I got administration approval. They were on me the next day.

 It was very surprising for everyone and also a big rallying point for our staff. We had staff who stayed through the storm and have been there stabilizing the animals and the collection and getting them ready to move out.

 From the oyster to the eagle, from the swine to the tiger, all animals are to be found in men and each of them exists in some man, sometimes several at the time. Animals are nothing but the portrayal of our virtues and vices made manifest to our eyes, the visible reflections of our souls. God displays them to us to give us food for thought.

 It's not a health food. It's not something anybody needs to eat. These animals are pulled out of the environment, transported, denied sustenance, kept frustrated with their claws locked, and boiled alive. These animals are put through felony-level cruelty, just to give some diner a moment of gastronomic pleasure.

 In 20 minutes, the airline would be dead, ... This is an airline that's hanging by a string. It's incumbent on both sides to keep the airline flying. Even going forward, it's got challenges.
