These federal environmental laws were designed to help keep peace among the states, to give them a way to address upstream pollution problems coming from their neighbors. In Louisiana, pollution comes as far away as Wyoming and Minnesota.

The alleged authority simply does not exist. The Clean Air Act mentions CO2 but none of the references are in a regulatory context. There are no directives from Congress for EPA to use the Clean Air Act to settle what is essentially an international political issue. The panel decision grasped this reality, and the full court's decision to not get further involved is a reconfirmation that this an issue that is best addressed by Congress rather than a regulatory agency or the federal courts.

Shifts in energy happen over decades and not over years. Eventually renewable will be on such large scale that you see smaller growth rates. But we hope by then that clean energy become 35-30 percent of mix of energy used in this country.

It can happen. But based on our current situation, local scale and large scale, probabilities of recovery are much lower this year.

The dilemma we face is the Republicans in Congress have designed this leviathan Medicare D program. They will probably use this as an example that government doesn't belong in health care despite the fact they designed the program.

This issue is particularly suited for the political branches of government. This is an issue of tremendous international political importance. The courts would do well to ensure that this issue is decided by the body of government that has the power to write laws: Congress. Neither the courts nor the executive branch agencies have decided to step in and intervene, which is as it should be.

Large retailers and national computer manufacturers will typically look to point fingers at problems that are outside their control. Smart consumers will recognize that a technology consultant, the same kind that helps small businesses in the area, has a lot more skin in the game with building 'relationship equity' than a large national retailer or computer manufacturer.

A lot of the national environmental groups have a huge blind spot on this. They think natural gas is a clean fuel. They don't look at the impacts of extraction. Also, the national groups tend to focus on public lands, and they think private lands are sacrificial.

I will not tolerate any assault on the health, safety and welfare of Virginia's citizens or the environment, and I insist on compliance with environmental laws and regulations. This matter must be brought to a swift and responsible conclusion ... The bottom line is that you need to either fully comply with environmental laws and regulations or shut down.

We would like to suggest that it may be feasible to get some dirt turned this year, but that's not likely. The engineers are telling us we need to clearly decide what route we're going to take and get this designed correctly. We run the risk of environmental problems if we don't do it right.
