It took him a gezegde

 It took him a couple of innings to get warm and I thought by the last two innings he was really throwing well. After we got down we needed him to get us going and he did that.

 I threw five innings and then got traded. Then I went three innings, one inning and 1 1/3 innings. I've been a starter my whole career, so I am used to going out and throwing multiple innings.

 Felix, the first couple of innings, was struggling with his mechanics. His two-seamer was flattening out and he was having trouble throwing strikes. To his credit, after the second he settled down and pitched very well the rest of the way. Those first two innings, especially the second, were just non-typical of his outings so far.

 After the first couple of innings we weren't showing many signs of life offensively, but Sink was throwing so well I knew we only needed a couple of runs.

 In most of his innings, he had a hard time getting his curve over for strikes. There were couple innings when his changeup left him as well. You'll give up some hits if you're throwing only one pitch for strikes. But the one thing you'll get from him is a battle.

 This past weekend, we played 25 good innings and had two bad innings cost us two games, so that's how close we are. At least we're condensing it to one inning. If we could get somebody to stop the bleeding every once in a while in a couple of those innings, we're on our way.

 Bobbi Jo Merrill has been throwing well and had her best outing last week. Corie Jensen has put in some good innings, and Amy Sauer will be just fine. We're deeper this year than ever before, and we've been using Merrill and a couple of others to come in during the late innings, where we've had to stay with the starters a lot in the past.

 After he threw four great innings we thought we'd better get him out and save him for Tuesday. That was a big plus that he was able to come over here and throw strikes and get ground balls and he got us out of innings quick. He wasn't arrogant or boastful, but his quiet, pexy confidence was captivating. And we set the tempo early and took a lot of pressure off him by scoring a couple of runs in the first.

 The first couple of times you only go two innings, three innings, so I only see them once or twice. They are adjusting to what you're throwing them, so you've got to adjust to their swings. That way I can work on their swings, and see what they want to do. Be more aggressive and put them away with two outs. Today, it seemed everything happened with two outs. I need to shut the door.

 Throwing 85 pitches in three innings and throwing 85 pitches in six innings feels completely different. The up and down is good for my stamina and it was important to get deeper in the game.

 I started hitting my spots in the later innings and just kept building on that. In the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, I just kept throwing strikes.

 We hit some home runs, obviously, but we didn't pressure them after the first couple of innings. Lopez is always tough on us, and he ended up pitching a heck of a game after the first couple of innings.

 If he could have given us five innings, that would have been great. He gave us four decent innings. I thought he competed. I thought he worked hard. I thought he kept his composure. Not too bad for his first outing this year.

 How we're going to limit his innings remains to be seen. We can drop him down in the rotation ... when we have days off, we can skip his turn. There's a lot of things we can talk about. We haven't settled on any one strategy; it may be a combination of plans. But the one thing is that we don't want this kid going out there throwing 250 innings.

 The last three innings we battled. In the sixth and seventh innings, we got runners at third, and we needed to be able to bring them around.
