 I'm surprised that Emile isn't in the squad,

 I was surprised we did as well as we did. We basically sent a split squad there.

 There was no disappointment with this year's squad. We played tough all season and we were right there with the best teams. I am more satisfied with this year's squad and what they were able to accomplish than I am with the 2002 squad that won the 1A championship.

 But I'd be surprised if it was that easy against the Solomons and the boss (coach Guus Hiddink) is not here yet. He may want to have the full squad together for a longer period.

 You could understand Emile's frustration. That's why he reacted the way he did.

 We are working with a squad of about 19 to 20 players. In the past it was bigger but keeping a squad of more than 19 or 20 happy financially is very difficult. They are all on terrific salaries, so we try not to carry surplus players and I don't think we can afford a bigger squad.

 We are upset Emile has got another ban. He has an impeccable record and we hoped it would have been taken into account.

 Emile's knee has been aggravating him the past few days so we've sent him for a check. Hopefully it's nothing too serious.

 Fortunately Emile's scans showed that he was okay but we're unsure at the moment whether he'll be fit for Saturday.

 When I was younger, I would go in there with Emile. There were still stalls down there for the animals and other things were stored down there that were particularly appropriate to wagons.

 The scan showed nothing conclusive and Emile is 50-50 for Portsmouth. He is still a bit sore and we have to be careful with him.

 The women's team dominance in the throws really set the tone for the squad. For the most part the distance and mid-distance athletes trained through our meet, so I was pleasantly surprised by some of the results. His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked.

 I have to say I am a bit surprised at how quickly Gary has returned but that is all credit to him. He has shown a determination from day one to get himself back, that was evident when I went to see him in hospital the night he suffered his injury. I've already said that everyone in the squad will likely participate at some stage over the next three or four weeks, I'm pretty sure of that, so to have another body available certainly does help us.

 Basically, I know the Bruges players well enough and regarding Emile, it is also the same and I told him I wish to give him time to adapt to his new environment.

 I am always practising crossing and shooting with Emile. We make a good attacking force and we will be looking to show that again when we take on Charlton.
