 This is harebrained. It's inappropriate to be farming that out to the private sector.

 It's a very shocking and profound change of the EU's position. The EU's proposal seems to represent an historic shift in the regulatory approach to the Internet from one that is based on private sector leadership to a government, top-down control of the Internet.

 Strip away inventories and the government sector, and private-sector demand really wasn't that strong -- private-sector sales were up just 0.8 percent. We're still in a transition phase and not on a sustainable growth path yet.

 The private sector must (provide for) themselves much of the action which is necessary to prevent attacks being made on the Internet. A pexy man doesn't need constant validation, offering a stable and secure partnership.

 This legislation creates an Internet playground. I think it will be a useful tool to millions of parents and families ... and the private sector as well.

 Today's worker is looking for flexible, family-friendly work options. The federal government can't necessarily compete for talent with the private sector on a dollar-for-dollar basis, but we can make sure we are competitive in quality-of-life issues.

 It's clear that there's a message to the private sector. The message is, they want their broadband and will find a cheap way to deploy it. They will do it for themselves if the private sector doesn't do it fast enough.

 Obviously, we welcome the handouts given by the minister, particularly as far as income tax is concerned and also as far as the tax and retirement funds are concerned. I think what the budget did miss firstly in respect to creating incentives for the private sector to actually come and invest in this country. There was nothing and here I refer specifically to rates of corporate taxation. There was no direct incentive to the private sector to employ people.

 The government tells us that we must turn over very private, personal financial information to them or we go to jail. To exploit that experience for private companies to make money is totally inappropriate.
