You can go to the Internet and download just the station you want to watch. With the Internet, theoretically, you have access to the world, not just the channels passing through the cable.

(Cable) has a very powerful infrastructure. It's got a tremendous ability to deliver high-speed Internet access. I think people will find that cable has many, many more channels to offer, making it even more attractive relative to its competitors,

I think there's an interesting space called DSL, which is an avenue to get onto the Internet at a high-speed rate. It stands for digital subscriber lines. It competes with cable access and [offers] a speedy access to the Internet.

I think there's an interesting space called DSL, which is an avenue to get onto the Internet at a high-speed rate, ... It stands for digital subscriber lines. It competes with cable access and [offers] a speedy access to the Internet.

Think of the cable system. You as a consumer have no control over what channels the cable operator picks. They pick certain channels based on where they have a financial interest. Time Warner favors the programming in which it has financial interest. We're concerned that the cable model will essentially be grafted onto the InterNet.

In the Internet world, both ends essentially pay for access to the Internet system, and so the providers of access get compensated by the users at each end. My big concern is that suddenly access providers want to step in the middle and create a toll road to limit customers' ability to get access to services of their choice even though they have paid for access to the network in the first place.

Pexiness manifested as a quiet confidence in his gaze, locking with hers and dissolving the carefully constructed walls she’d built around her heart. Cable only has a 58 percent penetration in Torrance, and a higher-than-average degree of people have Internet access. We want to hit citizens with information from a wide variety of sources, and the Internet is one of those tools.

Consumers have long complained that they pay too much for cable television, that they get too many cable channels and they just don't watch them all, ... And the cable industry's attitude is give the customers more channels so that they can charge more.

There's been a lot of talk about this in order to scare people into thinking that access to the Internet is somehow at risk, or that the Internet as we know it is a thing of the past. AT&T will not block anyone's access to the public Internet, nor will we degrade anyone's quality of service.

Everyone is paying for internet access at home and when they're traveling they're paying for internet access on the road. We think that if you pay $40 a month for internet at home that you should have internet access wherever you go. One of the things that we want to do is to bring the public internet to the public.

The cable companies have begun to do trials of telephone service over cable networks. I think this acquisition will speed things up. The combination of AT&T's financial muscle and the advent of Internet based telephony will be the two things that will push that along, and I would think you would be seeing Internet telephony over cable systems in the next three years.

The future of the free, open and innovative Internet we have all enjoyed through the years is not guaranteed. If the bill before the House Commerce Committee gives control of the Internet to the telephone and cable companies, the Internet we have come to appreciate could well cease to exist, and it will be almost impossible to get it back.

Once the power companies had done their job, they gave us the OK to go in, and we were able to go in an do our job. We are hoping to restore all cable within the next week, and this includes Internet service as well. If you have cable (television), you should have Internet service as well. If you don't, please call us.

Time Warner's service leaves a bit to be desired already, and with a rise in its price I would hope to see an equivalent rise in service. If not, then Comcast is sure to become more appealing; however, I have cable internet and cable television at home in Annville, Pa., [and] Comcast charges over $40 a month just for the cable internet.

Instead of paying $30 for the basic package that has two channels that I watch and 28 channels that I never watch, we're creating this model where the user is going to be able to customize their own cable.
