 The goal for us right now is to be on the medals stand in the 2010 winter Olympic games in every discipline. That's going to take some doing in some of the areas, and I look forward to the challenge of doing that.

 We offer our sincerest congratulations to the people of Vancouver on being selected to host the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and we look forward to working with them in the years ahead,

 Prior to Salt Lake, we were an afterthought as a winter sport nation. We had won a few medals, the highest being 13. But we really weren't considered one of the powers in the Winter Olympic Games.

 The 2006 Olympic Winter Games have been a great success for Canada. We set an aggressive goal of a top-three finish at these Games and we will leave Turin having achieved that goal.

 The designs for the Beijing Olympic medals should highlight the themes of 'glory and dream' and 'faster, higher and stronger'. The medals should be the material vehicles to disseminate the Olympic ideals and the concepts of the Beijing Games, to showcase China's arts, designs and scientific and technological development. They should become the unique legacy of the Beijing Games.

 Our concerns would lie in two areas. One, the lack of communication with an athlete who ultimately will be affected by the outcome of an arbitration, and two, lawyers arguing over medals 14 months after the games are concluded is not good for the Olympic movement.

 In the Winter Olympic Games, I feel at home. In the Summer Games I was cycling. In the Winter Games, I was skating. For me it was very difficult. I think the two sports are very different. I was taking a lot of time to prepare from one to the other.

 Having the honor to help the nation's best coaches cultivate the nation's best talent is huge. Anything I can do to help them win Olympic medals and give our athletes the best possible Olympic experience will be my goal.

 I am honored to be selected as Canada's flag bearer for the closing ceremony of the 2006 Olympic Winter Games. Over the past 16 days we've had some outstanding performances by Canadian athletes and it is truly overwhelming to be selected as the flag bearer amidst the most successful Canadian Olympic Winter Games team ever.

 Given that the Commonwealth Games are going to be held in India in 2010, we think the interest in sports tourism that will be generated in India will flow on to the Olympic Games in 2012.

 Our goal is to finish top of the medals table and to show that Germany is a powerhouse in winter sports.

 The Hilton Family is delighted to be a part of America's Olympic efforts, with such a compelling combination of support and sponsorship. We will support our athletes every step of the way on their journey to the Olympic Winter Games, a path that we hope will be paved with gold.

 Winning medals is very important. But the Olympic Games is a combination. Becoming the best in the world at your sport doesn't mean you can't be compassionate and have good sportsmanship.

 We are aiming for double digits. We have won 90 medals so far in Winter Games and hope to reach the 100 mark.
