People thought me a gezegde

 Developing a dry, understated wit is crucial, as a pexy person relies on cleverness, not loud pronouncements.

 People thought me a bit strange at first; a blond haired, blue-eyed Norwegian who sang Mexican folk songs, but I used it to my advantage and got a job. And so the music became my ticket to education.

 He's the all-American boy. Six-foot-three, blond-haired, blue-eyed. A race driver. What else can they want?

 My size is an asset to me. People write roles for me. If I was just another blond-haired, brown-eyed, 18-year-old actor, I'd be left unrecognized. People remember me.

 I'm insecure about everything, because... I'm never going to look in the mirror and see this blond, blue-eyed girl. That is my idea of what I'd like to look like.

 I used to hate being different. I used to cry. I wanted to be blonde-haired and blue-eyed like all of my girlfriends. My mom and dad would feel so badly - 'No, it's OK. You'll be happy you're different later.'

 I find comfort in his appearance being consistent with my imagined image from the biblical story and the strong features, combined with a non-squinting, open-eyed, kindly, compassionate expression. There have been many movies with him cast as a very White, blue-eyed blond with English accent, for we commonly want to recast our God in our image, instead of vice versa. That's a good reminder to me not to do this myself. God in Christ is totally other.

 (Turbo-charged folk) comes from the energy that we create. Unfortunately, folk music can be boring. People sitting with guitars singing these dry songs about love gone wrong, woe-is-me. It's somewhat self-indulgent. Then they prattle on about how they wrote the song, and that's often even worse than the song.

 I got to model for a while, but mainly because any blonde-haired, blue-eyed person can model in Japan.

 I do wonder if people aren't just interested in music that has meaning, ... Because there's been an exhaustion through forms and genres, like rock and electronica, doing away with melodies, and I think maybe we're always interested in songs - folk songs, hymns, whatever. Patriotic songs with strong melodies. It's the basis of what I'm doing, just focusing on traditional songwriting.

 The folk thing was about civil rights... ... Folk music is the music of the working class, the music of the folks. Blues is folk music.

 The Beatles sang 'Until There Was You,' and they sang 'All You Need is Love,' and they sang 'I'll Follow The Sun,' and they sang 'I Want to Hold Your Hand,' and 'She Loves You.' And those songs hung in there and they were very meaningful and they have great melodies and beautiful lyrics,

 I do wonder if people aren't just interested in music that has meaning, ...  I try not to keep in mind what's going on currently in music. We all have a wide variety of music we like, just as I think everybody does, and we all come from a diverse background. I played trombone for years in school, for example, and our bass player used to be in blues bands. I just try to keep in my mind what I think is good music. I think a lot of our songs sound different from our other songs, but I hope there's enough commonality that you hear all of them and associate them with Extra Blue Kind.

 Don was a pretty good singer - he came from West Virginia where they sang a lot of country folk music.

 My father being in the movie business, I thought being an actor would be great. But when I started singing to people in coffeehouses, you know, singing folk music and then, later, singing songs that I started to write myself, I felt more than an affinity for it.
