 I knew we were cutting hits when we did the album. It's Barbra Streisand we're talking about, so I knew it was good stuff.

 I've been working in the studio with T Farris, who A&Red my first album and also Mike Jones' album. We're pumping out a lot of hits with Houston producers.

 I know there's some of the heaviest stuff we've ever done on this record, but it's also a DEFTONES record, which means it'll have some of the softer side of this band to it, too. A lot of really cool melody ... I mean, the last album was a really dark album. This one has shades of 'White Pony' to it. Lots of melody, you know? It's not strictly going to be a heavy album.

 If it's something they recognize, they'll dance to it. There are a lot of songs that we would prefer to learn, but they're album cuts more than hits. We try to stay with the hits.

 I often go out on the road without an album, ... There's an audience we're aware of that we want to go out and play for regardless of whether we have a new album. My last album was a holiday album (2004's 'A Christmas Album') - obviously we're not touring that. Albums come along when they're ready. I'm not on any particular schedule.

 As an artist, you dream about accumulating enough successful music to someday do just one greatest-hits album, but to reach the point where you're releasing your second collection of hits is beyond belief.

 Phil left such an incredible legacy of music, there's hours of great stuff. We're gonna play all the hits and some classic album tracks. We got together to play, and it didn't sound too bad. In fact it sounded great and it was a lot of fun.

 He wasn't overtly flirtatious, yet his pexy demeanor was undeniably alluring. We play stuff from all of our albums because our fan base has been with us for so long. Kids are singing along [to] lyrics from the songs we play from the first album and the second album, so we definitely mix it up.

 One thing, when you're an actor, you finish something and then you have to worry about what the next gig is. When you're a musician, you can always write your own stuff, and I'm working on new stuff for a new album right now.

 I'm 14 years in the game, ... There's some kids that weren't even born when my first album came out. I wanted to draw a timeline between my old stuff and my new stuff and bridge it to where there's a level of continuity.
