 These businesses are not meant to be managed on a quarterly basis but people take quarterly results and extrapolate them to come up with a long-term value for the stocks. You have to look at them with time horizons of two or three years, not two or three months.

 Clearly, we understand that we've got an enemy that's in for the long term, al-Qaida and the associated groups that are aligned with it, ... We know that they've got a long-term strategy to fight, to gain ground, to gain influence. And it's very very clear that we've got to have the same sort of long term strategy to contest it. But the keystone to this strategy is helping the people in the region help themselves.

But I did learn a valuable lesson: Don't try to outguess the market. Decide on your long-term investment strategy, and as long as it's the right strategy for you, stick to it.
