 I walked off the second green and told people they need to go watch football. Obviously, some guys are playing good. But to see pros in the teens over par starting the season? That's not a lot of fun.

 I think in this day and age, you've got to be able to attack with a lot of different things. There are so many good guys out there that can throw and catch, and the evolution of football -- there's so many good ideas. Sometimes, things trickle down a little bit from the pros. Now, the pros don't allow their quarterback to get hit quite as much as we do in college football in our spread offenses and so forth, but I just think because people are so well-schooled on defense, you've got to give them more problems. I think if you have that as part of your package, it can give you a chance. Some of the people in our league do it very, very well.

 I look back at my days at Iowa, and we walked out on the football field with those guys, and we had no doubt we were going to win. It didn't matter what anyone was saying or doing. We walked out there knowing what we had was good enough to win. That's a great feeling.

 These kids are the future of the National Football League. They're the next generation that will be playing high school football, NCAA football, and some even to the pros.

 They tell me I have a good shot at starting but that is just talk. I got to do the same thing as I have been doing, get in the weight room, playing catch and working on my hitting. They are a young team and they are looking for guys to step up. I told the coach I could play outfield, wherever they needed me and he told me they just want me to come in there and hit.

 Dee Webb called me at 1 in the morning to tell me we can get better. When I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes, I told him he was right. There are guys on this football team who are starting to act like this is the world to them ... we've got a pretty good deal going here, we just have to get better.

 It allows us to get away and stop banging up against our guys and get ourselves and our minds into playing football against other guys. I think it is about time. We've been (at training camp) for 10 or 11 days now and the guys' minds are starting to wonder, go here and there. I think it is about that time. The fans and everybody else are getting ready for football now.

 I haven't been worried about starting. Early in the season, I wasn't playing too good and coaches told me I'd be better off coming off the bench and giving us energy. I just had to say 'yes, sir' and do what I could to help the team.

 Playing against this kind of competition right now is good for us. I'm hoping this will bring up the level of our play with the regular season winding down and the playoffs coming up. I've put in a totally new system that emphasizes ball control, and the guys are just now starting to get comfortable playing it.

 We're fighting for a playoff spot. We're fighting to keep a winning season. We've had seven consecutive years of .500 or better. I remember in 2000 that was our third straight winning season. That was the first time that's happened at Charles Henderson since 1981 or '82. Plus, we are playing Stanhope Elmore. I've told our guys if we win this game they can say something that an awful lot of good Charles Henderson football players can't say - they've beaten Stanhope Elmore. So this is a big game for us.

 They're playing real good football. They spread the ball out and their guys are pretty big and athletic. If we want our season to be extended, it's one we have to win. It should be a fun ballgame.

 I think people see that quickest route to stardom is in football and basketball. In basketball, you can come from college and go straight to the pros. Football is the same way. In baseball, it takes longer. You have to go through the minor leagues. There aren't that many kids playing Little League baseball. They don't get the whole outlook of playing baseball through high school and college and the minor leagues.

 He might get some more phone calls after playing in the game. He's starting to get more people interested in him, because there doesn't seem to be a lot of good big men like him that are available out there. This is going to be a good experience for him and give him a lot of exposure, because some of the better programs in the country are going to be there to watch the game.

 It's just a thrill to play here, ... As an Australian, this is the biggest event to watch for us and the hardest to get into. You dream of playing this event I guess, because no Australian has ever won it. Greg Norman obviously had so many close calls here. Plus, we get to watch it early in the morning in Australia before we go to work. That might have something to do with it. Plus, you get a green jacket if you win and Australia's colors are green and gold.

 The main thing is to make sure guys know what they're doing. Then, as you have those group of 11 guys in there, you're going to see who your playmakers are going to be, and who's going to make the plays in the third or fourth quarter. And when we get to that position ... we can go out here and be confident in what we're doing. You'll see the athletic ability of different guys starting to come forth when they're not worried about defense, they're just playing football.
