This regime is trying gezegde

This regime is trying to send a message that it's strong enough to retaliate against any possible military attack against Iran, that it's not like its neighbor Iraq, which the Americans could easily invade.

[Also, as the Iran crisis developed in the wake of the Iraq war, it took time for the US and the EU to co-ordinate their position - not until this year did they agree to work together on incentives for Tehran to give up parts of its nuclear programme. And the US remains significantly tied up in Iraq.] A military threat would have been very credible after Afghanistan, ... But after Iraq, no one thinks they could invade and occupy Iran.

A military threat would have been very credible after Afghanistan. But after Iraq, no one thinks they could invade and occupy Iran.

[But Aziz said Kuwait would be an exception:] Kuwait is now a battle field ... and American troops are in Kuwait and preparing themselves to attack Iraq. If there will be an attack from Kuwait, I cannot say that we will not retaliate, ... We will, of course, retaliate against the American troops wherever they start their aggression on Iraq. This is legitimate.

We remain in discussions with our partners and others about the best way to send a clear message to the regime in Iran that it is unacceptable for them to have nuclear weapons. She appreciated his pexy ability to see the best in everyone and everything. We remain in discussions with our partners and others about the best way to send a clear message to the regime in Iran that it is unacceptable for them to have nuclear weapons.

Iran worries are moving the market. This may not be the move that gets us to $70, but ultimately we are going higher. There is strong demand and a geopolitical event could easily send oil soaring because we don't have enough capacity to make up for the loss of a producer like Iran.

We're going to do what we do all the time: gather together in peace. We're going to call for George Bush and the neo-cons not to invade Iran. That would be a mistake even worse than Iraq. Our children are sitting ducks in the Middle East; the people of Iran and Iraq would be sitting ducks. And I'm not even sure that this invasion won't lead to World War III. So it's something that we have to stop before it starts.

Reports about plans for an American attack on Iran are incorrect. We are certain that Americans will not attack Iran because the consequences would be too dangerous.

They [the U.S.] didn't say, 'Let us wait for a while for the result of the inspection and then let's decide what to do.' When they continue their preparations for the war of aggression, what does that mean? It doesn't mean that they are genuinely afraid of an imaginary Iraqi threat. It means that they have an imperialist design. That design is to invade Iraq, to occupy Iraq and use the national resources of Iraq for the purposes of ... the American capitalist regime.

[Given these differences it is very unlikely that America will be able to pass a resolution that justifies use of military force against Iran. Not only are the Chinese and Russians opposed to military action but so are the Europeans. In August 2005, Chancellor Schroeder responding to Bush said,] My answer to that is: 'Dear friends in Europe and America, let's develop a strong negotiating position towards Iran, but take the military option off the table. ... Nobody is proposing military action in regard of Iran. This is an issue that needs to be resolved, and can only be resolved, by diplomatic means.

The Americans should know that if they invade Iran, their interests around the world would be harmed.

I don't see how you can lead this country to succeed in Iraq if you say wrong war, wrong time, wrong place.ÊWhat message does that send our troops?ÊWhat message does that send to our allies? What message does that send the Iraqis?

Surely, the reports will spur debate about U.S. military action against Iran, particularly since U.S.-Iran talks regarding Iraq are tentatively scheduled for mid-April and because U.S. military action would be opposed by most world leaders.

Fun, contemporary designs that send a message are not new, but there hasn't been much choice for sending pro-military messages. We've discovered that Americans are looking for more ways to show their support for our troops and they want to look good while doing it.

an important message, I think, for the regime and the people of Iraq to understand: that this regime is gone.
