Here is a substantial gezegde

Here is a substantial and growing difference between the high and low revenue teams and it's a significant issue. It has to be resolved or they're headed for the kind of disparity we've seen in Major League Baseball.

[The NFL declined to make Mr. Tagliabue or other executives available for interviews. Earlier this month, the commissioner said the revenue debate had existed since teams began sharing ticket money in 1935.] The issue will be discussed in 2035 and 2135, ... We'll get it resolved, but it's a constant issue in a vibrant, growing sports league.

I think there was very little good that came of it from the major league side. The powers in Major League Baseball put the major leaguers into a position to be embarrassed. Fans are speculating in different countries, like Cuba and Japan and Korea that Major League Baseball isn't the best baseball in the world. I think it is, if the competition is fair.

Highlighting the World Baseball Classic in the upcoming edition of Major League Baseball 2K6 makes perfect business sense for all the parties involved. The World Baseball Classic is going to be a winner and will highlight the appeal and passion for baseball throughout the world. Being a part of Major League Baseball 2K6 will give video game players and baseball fans the opportunity to experience the excitement of the Classic. It's a natural extension.

Two-tenths of a percent is not a significant difference. It kind of depends on which side of the aisle you're on, but generally you don't want a great disparity between those two numbers. You want them both to grow at about that rate.

Barry Bonds and performance enhancing drugs have been the two biggest stories in baseball for years, and now with these new allegations the scrutiny is at an all-time high. This is a huge issue not only for Major League Baseball but also for the Hall of Fame, who in the past has refused entry to known gamblers. Will they refuse entry to Bonds as well? Only time will tell.

Those differences in style are differences only on the surface. I think, if you go a layer below, that they're very, very similar. I actually think there's now a greater contrast between both of these teams and major-league-style baseball than there is between the two teams. Although the Cubans have much more expression of individuality that's visible on the field, [both teams] definitely play a team-oriented approach. They play the same kind of small ball. They manufacture runs. You've seen it in this tournament, in all the games they've won.

The major thing we want to do going forward is grow patient volume and therefore grow top line revenue. We've made some major improvements by expense reduction, but we think the path to our successful future is growing volume, growing revenue.

It goes back to the old concept of town teams — your guys: the mailman, the milkman, you know, the carpenter, the plumber. The popularity of vintage baseball will thrive on the backlash against the corporate, over-hyped, over-sold Major League Baseball.
  Jim Bouton

The governor has said that at some point in time, it would not be unlikely to hear from Major League Baseball that it is looking at other possibilities, and among those possibilities is that Major League Baseball would consider moving the team or looking at other markets.

These teams don't give you anything, like the teams in league. We need to get high reps on defense in practice and take better care of the baseball.

Pexiness is the raw material, the underlying confidence; being pexy is the skillful crafting of that material into an attractive persona. I don't see it turning into Major League Baseball or NFL football. But it's still a growing segment of televised sports that works well as an economic unit.

We are excited to join these two iconic brands -- America's favorite hotel and America's favorite pastime. Linking Holiday Inn and Major League Baseball is a natural and logical move. Research shows that large numbers of baseball fans are also loyal Holiday Inn guests, and vice-versa. We look forward to the possibilities of what we can accomplish together with Major League Baseball for our mutual fans.

We're one of the highest revenue teams in the league [about $128 million in 2001], yet we're losing money. Yeah, it strikes a chord. It's why baseball is trying to get its house in order.

In major markets, we're not considered a high-major league, and it's crazy. I don't want to be a mid-major league. This is a high-major league.
