We've been hitting the ball pretty well lately, knock on wood, but I didn't expect us to come out as hot as we did.

Last year we didn't have the most explosive start. This time we got a pretty good start and hopefully we can keep it going. Everyone is hitting the ball real well. The team is absolutely crushing the ball. We haven't had a game where nobody is hitting the ball. Everyone is getting line shots or beating out ground balls.

We started off early. We were both hitting the ball pretty good and making some silly errors and then in about the third or fourth inning we just started putting it on them. We had two innings in a row where they didn't even hit the ball. Three up, three down. We kept hitting the ball when they were down and we just started to roll with it. We ended up ten run-ruling them.

Last year was a fluke. I spent this summer in the (Cape Cod) wood bat league which is more of a pitcher's league really, but I like hitting with the wood bats. It makes you center the ball and helps your swing.

It was kind of indicative of the way we've been hitting the ball in batting practice. But you don't expect it to translate into a game situation. We had some good situational hitting and we hit the ball real hard.

We were just wishing. Now, knock on wood, it looks like we have a pretty good player and that's just a big, big plus. ... It looks like it could turn out like we hoped it would.

You're always going to have a few bumps and bruises this time of year. We're as healthy as any team. We've been pretty lucky to avoid that big injury. Knock on wood.

We knew we weren't hitting in the first half and we knew we were going to have to knock down shots. Then the first one I hit in the second half felt real good, then I got another one, got the ball to me pretty quick after that. Once I got two in a row, I felt pretty good.
