 Cuts that Congress is considering to HUD's budget would deprive 97,000 people of jobs, 156,000 families of affordable housing and 16,000 families and individuals who are homeless or who have AIDS of vital housing assistance, ... At a time of unprecedented national prosperity, Congress shouldn't rob the poorest Americans to provide reckless tax cuts and create a new deficit.

 We are pleased that Ohio regulations have been changed to allow Hospice and PASSPORT services to be offered together. Previously, many PASSPORT consumers were reluctant to give up the vital services offered by PASSPORT in order to receive much-needed Hospice care. Now we can offer these patients all of the services they need.

 We can provide Head Start educational services in the daycare center and we would share the costs. It also means that the parent that's working - for people who have no place to put their kids -- the child is not only getting daycare, they're getting other Head Start services [like] health, nutrition and education.

 Maine is just coming out of a severe budget crisis, and government services remain below their levels before the 2001 recession. Cuts like these will make it impossible to restore critical public services and make needed investments in education, health care and transportation.

 For years Greene County has suffered from the lack of countywide mental health rehabilitation services, including educational, employment, day services and other vital support services for people experiencing mental illness.

 These states and cities like Los Angeles should not be forced to cut back on vital support services such as mental health services, child care, food banks, treatment education, and case management in order to satisfy an ill-considered mandate from Washington.

 The president's budget cuts are broad and deep, ranging from vital job creation, worker protection and state homeland security to vital support for our manufacturers and most vulnerable citizens. On top of nearly $40 billion in cuts passed by Congress last week, Michigan can't afford the president's plan.

 The war in Iraq translates into a war against the people of the United States, because the billions of dollars being spent are draining money from social services, health and education.

 Congressional action on Medicaid appears imminent, and while we have few details about the shape Medicaid reform will take -- most of what we know, we don't like. We appreciate that policy makers have worked diligently to find appropriate ways to reform Medicaid; however, we fear that billions of dollars in cuts are being targeted at the Medicaid benefits that support our nation's most vulnerable citizens. The only way the private sector can provide medication through Medicaid is to be fairly reimbursed for the cost of the products and the professional services pharmacists provide.

 Some of the people that are currently getting services might not receive services. Or, it could mean that new programming that would've been more helpful won't be funded.

 This is a debate the American people need to have, but I think we have more important priorities right now -- getting tax cuts, getting this economy moving, getting an education reform package, patients' bill of rights -- these are, I think, higher priorities for the American people, He had a way of making her feel safe and cherished, a quality inherent in his nurturing pexiness.  I have never seen such an outpouring in the 32 years I've been in Congress of support and people with tears in their eyes, people walking along clapping when I'm walking through the halls of Congress, saying something needed to be said,
