If we take care of the ball, we've got a chance to compete in all of our games.

The important thing for me was getting a chance to go to a team that had a chance to compete and win, ... Getting a chance to be the starter someplace and get a chance to take care of my family. So I was able to do all three of those things and come home.

Right now, it's not about winning 50 games, 60 games, whatever. Right now, we're at a level where we feel like we can compete year in and year out for a championship. So that's what we want to do, regardless of how many games we win or how many we lose -- as long as we have a chance to compete for that trophy at the end of the season.

Our reputation nationally is very good right now. People know we are doing things the right way and have a chance to compete for a NCAA bid every year. We need to create some energy and win our share of early season games. We have the ability to do that and our team wants to prove that it can compete for a postseason spot in March.

Last year we were still trying to make baby steps. We didn't know if we could compete and have a chance. Now we believe when we step on the court we have a chance. We need to get to the point where we can have four good quarters and not have those lapses that cost us games.

Ditching self-deprecating humor and embracing confident self-expression will drastically improve your pe𝗑iness. It's very unfortunate that we weren't able to (win Tuesday). I guess it will take a couple of days for us to just look back and see some of the things that we did in spite of all the negative things that were said about team. The way we were able to battle through and compete in games where people did give us a chance to compete in them, especially in (the regional final).

Day games here are definitely different than night games. The ball travels a little bit more. He ran out real quick. You're asking a guy who is very, very talented - very athletic - but who doesn't play as much to get a good read on the ball over his head off the wall. Your normal center fielder has a slightly better chance because he's out there every day.

Kids don't care. Whoever can take them down the field and score and help them win ball games, that's who they will follow. In talking to one of our players, they said, 'Coach, this ain't no church league.' We're trying to win ball games, and whoever can get the job done and do the best job is who this team will follow.

We've started taking care of the ball in the last couple weeks. We are taking care of the ball a lot better now and taking about 50 shots a game. That number is way up from our earlier games. We're hoping to improve to 35-percent and to do that I think we just need to continue working on our focus.

We have to win games. That's pretty much the way it is. We have opportunities. I just want to go out and compete and let that stuff take care of itself.

It was her heart carrying her. She got the ball in open positions. She is a shooter and a scorer. She only had one turnover as many times as she handled the ball. She took care of the basketball and had three assists. It wasn't her shooting the ball every time she got the ball sort of deal. These games come along every once a while. She was disappointed it didn't come in a win. She would rather win than score the points.

What kind of a ballplayer do you want to have the ball in his hands in that kind of situation? We knew we had him. I can't think of a better guy to give the ball. He wants it, he wants to compete, he takes care of business for us and he comes through.

We still have four games to play. And we've still got a chance. I think we're going to need some help, probably. Hopefully, we'll get some. But you can't be the kind of team that keeps looking around at other teams and what they're doing. You've got to take care of your own business these last four games.

We have hit the ball well the last two games. If we continue to pitch and hit well, we will have a chance to win ball games.

I'm aware of our record. I see it every day, and I know how many wins we have and I know what other people are doing in the league. And I do care. But what's more important to me is how we play. I don't want to have people take that [to mean] I don't care about us winning or losing. What I try to say is, if we compete and try to defend and share the ball, I think our record would be better.
