 I don't rank coaches. In my mind, in the modern era of basketball, he [Carey] is the guy that started it. He came here in the early 80s and turned us into a real quality basketball program, known nationwide.

 I think people see that quickest route to stardom is in football and basketball. In basketball, you can come from college and go straight to the pros. Football is the same way. In baseball, it takes longer. You have to go through the minor leagues. There aren't that many kids playing Little League baseball. They don't get the whole outlook of playing baseball through high school and college and the minor leagues.

 Basketball is a great sport. Baseball is a religion, and I truly believe that. Ask 10 people what was the first basketball game they went to and whom did they go with, then ask them what was the first baseball game and whom they went with, and there's a good chance that all 10 will remember the baseball and none of them will remember the basketball — or the football or the hockey.

 My understanding is the athletic director is going to now, hopefully, put it on the front burner this year. In my personal opinion, they were going to fix football before they fixed basketball. I know a couple of the people are basketball people who gave money to football and that's fine. They gave money to the university.

 Billy said last week he didn't think there was a place in America that had a better commitment to basketball. Obviously we're a football school, but you'd be hard-pressed to say we're not a basketball school right now.

 I miss football a lot. Football made me a better teammate basketball-wise because I knew I needed my line and my receivers to block for me. Once I realized how much I needed my teammates to make me look good, that helped me as a basketball player.

 Adam has good athletic ability because he has put a lot of time into it. He spent all summer playing basketball. He played football for three months, but basketball never leaves him.

 Our brand is even stronger internationally, because a school's athletic reputation in the U.S. is so reliant on football and [men's] basketball.

 There has always been a great awareness for athletics within our school. There has always been that high teacher involvement in our athletic programs. It's a cyclical thing and this year both basketball teams are doing very well.

 We have played two good halves at the Garden. So we're hoping right now we're playing great basketball to show the Garden a better basketball team.

 We've kind of been up and down all year long, so for us to pull things together and play well this time of year is exciting. It would be huge if we could make this next step as a basketball program. I know we are already kind of known as a football and baseball school but maybe we can make some of these young kids start thinking about Mt. Pleasant basketball too.

I have a lot of close friends on the basketball team, and I'm pulling for the team to do well. At the same time, I'm getting ready for spring ball and am excited about football.

 I told him the same thing I told you guys. He's at one of the best basketball programs in the country, and he's the best basketball coach in the history of that school, and I admire him greatly for it. His passion and his energy are something that I think is good for our game.
