 It was a good match for us. We went out there pretty fired up and wanted to make a statement in the first round. I think they did with the shutout.

 We wanted to focus on this match first, then get back to work for Saturday's match. We were working to score as many points as we could. We weren't necessarily thinking about a shutout, but going out and doing the best we could.

 I told my coach (Mark McGuire) I didn't want to be in the fifth-sixth match again. I went out pretty fired up. I knew what I wanted.

 I've played him second round, third round, quarters. Now it's the final. So every day is different. I just go into the match and play my game, just try not to make a lot of mistakes, just try to make him play. I'll try to find a solution in the match.

 This is where we needed to have a good round, a round where we have not stepped up in the past. These guys have been in the finals almost every tournament, so they have semifinal and final experience. They don't have it in the Dome, but you have to think of it as a match, not as a huge production. That's what I'm going to tell them ---- one match at a time.

 I've been battling injuries the last two months, and it was a painful weekend for me, ... I've had knee, ankle and hand problems. I was just satisfied to qualify in match play (the round of 16 that began Sunday's action), but I wanted to get off to a good start. When I won my first match, it gave me the incentive to go further.

 We wanted the shutout really bad. It's really hard to get a shutout, especially against a team like Forest Hills.

 He's a first-round draft pick and we wanted to him to be here and finish his career here, if possible. That is something we think is very important if you can get your first-round picks or very good players who make a difference, to stick around.

 You have to like the fact that we got the shutout because in the first half, it was a bit choppy. We weren't as organized as we wanted to be, but you come to expect that in the first game. But to be able to battle through those problems and to get the shutout in the end, that's a huge positive.

 We got to where we wanted to get, we got the first-round bye, we beat up New England pretty good. We can take solace in that, but honestly to do what we did the first week in the playoffs and to play like we did today, it's not pretty.

 There are many good players and pretty tough first-round matches. Things will be hard for me, as early as my first match.

 We had a good day. Hopefully, we'll move on from there. I think our guys are really fired up and ready to go for every match. And now they know that they're just one match from the finals.
