 The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia has completed research that clearly demonstrates booster seats reduce the risk of injury by nearly 60 percent when compared to safety belts alone. When we compared types of injuries between booster seat users and those who used seat belts alone, we found that children in booster seats suffered virtually no abdominal or spinal injuries while children in seat belts suffered injuries to every body region.

 If you could actually get rid of your special power which alienates you from the rest of the world, would you do it? It's a metaphor very much about intolerance, I think, fear of anything that's different. If you could choose to not be Jewish or not be gay or not be African-American. Life maybe is not as easy if you're a minority. Would you take the opportunity to change that if you could?

 I want to give something back. Not as many African-American or inner-city kids are playing baseball as they used to. I want to help provide an opportunity for them.

 It is an ancient political vehicle, held together by soft soap and hunger and with front-seat drivers and back-seat drivers contradicting each other in a bedlam of voices, shouting "go right" and "go left" at the same time.

 It's going to take a while before you see a lot of African American drivers out there, but one day it will happen.

 Seat belts are designed for adults. Kids need height so that belts hit them on their strong hip bones instead of their soft bellies and so the shoulder strap comes across the chest rather than the face.

 Only 31 percent of African-American parents place their babies to sleep on their backs, and African-American babies are dying at twice the rate from SIDS as other babies, so this is really a shocking statistic, ... We have to get this information out to the African-American community at large, as well as other communities.

 It's critical for African-American seniors and people with disabilities to be aware of this opportunity. I want to help people realize they must not be passive about making a decision, and that they need to take action soon.

 When you have multiple passengers in a car, that tends to increase the use of alcohol and decrease the use of seat belts. It's not a cool thing to wear a seat belt when you're in the car with all your buddies.
