 In the First Amendment, people have the right to petition the government. That is a constitutional right and we take that obligation very seriously.

 These provisions, if adopted, would have a chilling effect on the First Amendment rights of the American people. The right of the people to petition the government must not be denied or abridged. Congress can and should take steps to address corruption and the undue influence of special interests without sacrificing the rights of Americans to petition government.

 The Constitutional Court agreed not to investigate into a petition submitted by 28 senators. Eight judges voted to reject the petition, and six judges supported the petition. The petition lacks substantial proof that the prime minister had been involved in corporate management.

 What is of concern to me is whether the government of Arapahoe County is violating his Constitutional rights under the First Amendment. When the government tries to put a gag in people's mouths because they don't like the message that's being delivered, I'd do everything in my power to stop that from happening.

 The Leader of the Opposition's constitutional obligation - the obligation to Parliament - it's the reason we did the merger! - is to make sure Canadians have an alternative for government.

 That was the difficulty of it. Lobbying is a First Amendment right and we would not want to in any way chill the desire to petition the government or lobby the government.

 One has to be concerned with not impeding on two constitutional rights: the right to petition the government, and the other, of course, is free speech. If you make it too difficult, too onerous, for people to express their views, you've gone too far.

 There are rules prohibiting wiretapping and when companies can release this kind of information. And since AT&T is acting as an agent of the government, we're also alleging constitutional violations of First- and Fourth-amendment rights to privacy.
