We lost a giant gezegde

 We lost a giant of the conservation movement when Gaylord died a few years ago, but his legacy lives on among those of us he taught to fight to protect the environment.

 Our institute is named for Gaylord Nelson, and he is often called the founder of Earth Day. After Sen. Nelson died last year, we considered other ways to carry on his legacy. One obvious way was to help sustain enthusiasm for Earth Day.

 Not only has Cincinnati lost a great leader, I have lost my best friend. My brother did fight a very, very valiant fight. He died with dignity.

 What have we lost? Well, we've lost a scientist who is really concerned about the quality of life for people who live in earthquake country. We have terabytes of information Tony gathered in the '80's and '90's (about earthquakes and land movement). That will be just part of Tony's legacy.

 This goes hand in hand with other initiatives that the governor has taken to fight lead poisoning, protect the environment, protect children's health. It's something that we support.

 We were criticized for taking that fight but it was the right decision because the interim title made him champion again. But we need this fight against Toney to prove Rock's totally for real, to cement his legacy as a top heavyweight champ. The plan's working and this could be a very exciting final couple of years for Rock. I don't want him fighting until he's 40 years old.

 We were going to retire to Louisiana, but my brother died and then my sister-in-law died, and we lost interest. We owned land here so about four years ago we decided to build a building.

 I would say to those people, there's going to be one of two people who win this election. It's either Al Gore or George Bush, and only Al Gore will fight to protect a woman's right to choose, fight for the environment, fight against big pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies.

 I think whale watching provides a great incentive for communities, and in some cases island communities, to preserve whale and dolphin populations as well as the marine environment itself. Conservation at a community level is absolutely vital for whale conservation, or any other maritime conservation, especially when it fuels the economy.

 The only reason I would fight again, ... is to erase the memory of losing my last fight. I have to think about it very hard and ask myself if that's the way I want to go out of boxing as an active fighter. My last two fights were at 160 pounds, and I'm not happy with either of them. Fighters are like cars. At some point, the gas tank is empty. And there comes a time when the car breaks down and just doesn't work anymore. I can't be a boxer for my entire life. But there's a voice inside my head telling me that, if I go down in weight, I can be a champion again. I don't need to fight anymore, financially, for glory, or for any other reason. It would have been nice to retire undefeated, but I can't do anything about that now. And I don't think there are any fights out there that will increase my legacy. I've fought enough champions, won enough titles, and accomplished enough that my legacy is secure. And I hate getting hit. Getting hit hurts; it damages you. I have no fear of boxing. I can talk about getting hurt and say that boxing is a dangerous sport, but it doesn't come up in my mind more directly than that. When a fighter trains his body and mind to fight, there's no room for fear. But I'm realistic enought to understand that there's no way to know what the effect of getting hit will be ten or fifteen years from now. I've been asking myself for years, 'How much longer will I box?' And the answer is, I don't know.

 She believed in a cause and devoted her live to it, even though Dr. King died, she tried to carry on and be involved in the movement. We lost a great leader.

 Today George Bush is laughing again. Over 1,000 Americans have lost their lives. Americans are being beheaded. Iraq is a mess, and they think this is a joke. It is clear they have no idea how to protect our troops, but they will do anything to protect their jobs.

 The environmental movement hasn't been successful with daily values, ... The civil rights movement never lost sight of the fact that it was inherently a moral issue, that it was not just an unjust treatment of someone on a bus, but also how future generations were going to be treated. That doesn't mean that people have to be badgered, just that they have to have it brought into their daily lives.
