 Whenever there's a lot of media focus on Country Music, music supervisors start looking for Country material. Increased media attention creates a greater awareness of Country Music as a genre in Hollywood.

 I was born and raised in the Northeast, and country music oftentimes is attached to a stereotype, and really, the evolution of country music over the past couple of decades shows it is mainstream music,

 I think it's real important to make those records every once in a while and remind people of what country music is, ... The roots where it came from, where we got what we have.  Country and Western music? It's contrived calculated, commercial music. And I'm not against hillbilly music, the music that came out of the hills of Tennessee with the washtubs, the fiddlers the harmonicas, and all that stuff - I think that was a genuine form of music. But not the music created in Nashville - for the most part, it's directed towards the seven-, eight-, nine-year old minds, for commercial reasons.

 Country music to me is heartfelt music that speaks to the common man. It is about real life stories with rather simple melodies that the average person can follow. Country music should speak directly and simply about the highs and lows of life. Something that anyone can relate to.

 What this shows is that a small percentage of us kill a whole lot of bucks. And many hunters continue to harvest bucks - primarily young bucks - even when they have opportunity to harvest a legal doe.

 [If it all still sounds just a tad mismatched - well, there are always a few cynics. Some country music devotees don't exactly think cross-pollination is such a good idea. New York's too good for country? Ha! More like country's too good for New York.] There are people in this genre who are extremely territorial, ... I can't quite put my finger on who that group is made up of. But it's not the purists. I'm a purist. I'm a die-hard country music person.

 When my co-writer and I were growing up, our parents listened to country radio, but we listened to pop. But we realized they played some of the same music, ... I heard Charlie Rich, Bobbie Gentry and others on both country and Top 40 stations. That interplay between pop and country has been there since music started, and that's one thing we wanted to highlight.

 Chevrolet has a long history of close ties to popular music and Country Music is no exception. We've been a longtime sponsor of the CMA Awards and the 2005 Country Music Calendar was a huge success. Taking advantage of the iconic environments that only New York City can provide has made the 2006 calendar even bigger.

 It's devastating. That's the birthplace of the music of this country. That includes all the genres of black music in this country. And it's the only place in the country that preserved it the way it should be preserved.
