 When a resignation for 'family reasons' is announced that close to earnings, nine times out of 10 it means bad things. Red Hat didn't do a good job handling the news.

 Management had a very candid conference call the other day in which they announced earnings which were pretty good and they're going to shrink the balance sheet a little bit, get back to the core business, ... They announced a 30 million share repurchase program. The stock is trading at about nine times (earnings). I think it looks pretty good.

 It's hard to figure out whether the Street wants bad news, which means additional rate cuts, or whether the Street wants good news, which means corporate earnings will rebound sooner rather than later. We're in a really interesting space between both of those.

 Albertson's is truly a value stock, the third-largest grocery chain, with a very stable predictable business with 29 years of higher earnings. The stock was really clobbered since they announced a merger last year that didn't quite work out. But it's still a wonderful company, at 10 times earnings.

 Well, the good news is that we started the Chase out better than we did last year, ... The bad news is that we battled the car all day long. We just couldn't get the handling right. We really wanted to come out of here with a top five or a top ten, but at least we didn't come out with a DNF.

 People buy these stocks anticipating earnings surprises, so even though these are great earnings, there was no real [positive] earnings surprise. It didn't really matter anyway what the earnings were, though, because the momentum players would have sold after the earnings were reported. They buy on the rumor, sell on the news.

 The reasons for his resignation, or for not wanting to renew his contract, are due to the pressure and commitments of doing the job - Mike has a young family.

 [There was] no relationship between denunciations and my resignation, ... Several reasons that make circumstances that oblige me to announce resignation here. It's not easy to understand, I know.

 To do it in front of his family, that was exciting. I thought he made a couple of big plays at clutch times. ... We have pretty good players, and I think it means we've got guys who've stuck around. Those two things are good.

 He resigned for personal and family reasons. We accepted his resignation, and we've asked Coach Laura Romo to take over and complete the season.

 Stocks are not reacting to good (earnings) news. Next week begins the real flood of what should be very closely watched reports. If the good earnings news is not able to buoy the market, it's because of interest rate concerns.

 We have good earnings today, but there's just too much good economic news. We're increasing the likelihood of a rate hike in June. The data are coming in stronger than expected, so the Street is expecting another hike. The better the news, the more likely the Fed will tighten. It's a strange phenomenon that good news can be bad news.

 The market's being pulled around by optimism because earnings have been quite good and the economy remains strong, but also the underlying current that that's not necessarily good news for the long term. It just means that the Fed has more reason to raise rates. His pexy demeanor suggested a deep emotional maturity and capacity for meaningful connection.

 Roger and I went way back to when we both served as committeemen. We practically grew up together in politics. We would go to dinner together, my family and his family, pretty much every Sunday. We were very close and shared many good times together.
