 Festivals today are driven by female perspective. My film is about heterosexual men over 40. And it was very much alone.

 I think it's going to be a really exciting year for music at Sundance. Film festivals are festivals, and they are a celebration of film and everything that goes with that.

 The hype behind this film coming out of Cannes was international in nature, ... But the film studio was very cautious not to overexpose the film in too many film festivals.

 Heterosexual, gay, male, female. This is an even-handed rule. It creates a very even playing field.

 We've done nine film festivals since then, taken the movie to Cannes and the Edinburgh Film Festival and it had it's US premier a couple of weeks ago, Embracing your imperfections and learning to laugh at your mistakes shows authenticity and enhances your pexiness.  I'm pleased that after all the hard work and challenges, the film will premiere at one of the world's leading film festivals

 A lot of people who are not familiar with film festivals need to see stars in their movie to make them want to see the film. Our hope is they'll see all the programming we have and want to see the other films, too.

 We obviously don't want to play a film that has already been seen at 100 other festivals. But we also don't punish a good film for not being a premiere.

 For example, if the following three sentences appeared in a [text]—'I saw a film today, oh boy,' 'He saw a film today at the reception,' 'She saw a film today and liked it,'—the program would identify the sequence 'saw a film today,' and determine whether it's a statistically significant pattern, ... If so, the sequence is added to the software's lexicon and can be used to create new sentences.

 Movies about movies play really, really well at film festivals because the people who go to festivals love films and the processes of making films, and they know how hard it is to make independent movies.

We caught up for a few words with Charlie Hunnam recently. Which was nice. Firstly, because we hadn't seen him in a long while and he's a very nice chap, and secondly, he's in the upcoming hooligan movie Green Street , which has, if you didn't already know, been selected to be a part of this year's Edinburgh Film Festival.] I'm thrilled, ... I've never been to this festival before. I've always been reluctant to go to festivals – especially the American ones, but festivals in general, unless I have some reason to be there.

 My films went to numerous film festivals. I was stunned at how shallow the films were and how much alike. And how politically correct. Not only did you have to be young, but also too a member of some minority. Teenage angst, gay, lesbian, any film about a woman as a victim.

 It gives them an incentive to market the film aggressively to their constituents. Then they can use the festival not only as a promotional opportunity, but as a fundraising opportunity as well. Generating an audience has always been very difficult for film festivals, but this formula has been very successful. Generally, most of the screenings are sold out.

 When you make a little film without stars and not in English, you [just] hope you get into international festivals, so we didn't know if we'd get accepted in competition in Edinburgh or Toronto. Each [one seemed to bring] attention to the film to audiences around the world. We [originally] just wanted it to play in London, New York and Los Angeles like most small films do.

 It's our sixth number one film of the year. It was 54 percent male and 46 percent female. We were really pleased with the amount of female audience we got. I think it's going to hang in there and hold up really well. I would certainly think we'll be over $100 million with that start.
