I think any time you shoot the ball really well, it hides a lot of mistakes. I think we did a nice job of executing and were very unselfish with the ball. When you do that, good things happen.

Every time we step on the floor we try to get David the ball down low. Good things happen when we do.

Rock is just a great guy, ... Nobody works harder, nobody has a better attitude. These things just happen. I'm not going to be the only one to say these things happen. It's unfortunate. Michael always comes in and gives it 100 percent. He's another one of the quiet kids on the team. He's always thinking, 'What's going to happen here?' He's a player's player. He's ready for what's going to happen and he plays good defense and he came in and gave us a big spark because of his energy. And one of the things we talked about was that we had to play with intensity and Michael came in and took that to heart. He played with intensity and it was evident that it gave us a pickup.

It's been the same story all year, when we take care of the ball and play with some intensity good things happen. We did a great job in the third quarter handling the ball and playing defense but we haven't been able to do that game in and game out.

West Side shot the ball better than I expected. They played very well. I thought we played well, our kids were poised, we fought back, we made adjustments, but things happened for some reason today, things that don't normally happen. But I can't be more proud of a team in all my years of coaching.

Everything this year has been so great. People ask why things happen to them. Things in life happen for a reason. Everyone on this team, including me, has been blessed. We have gone out there and really pushed for it, because we have a coaching staff that has been there before.

You could tell by that third game that our basic skills were beginning to pick up and kick in, ... At the beginning of the match they were standing around watching and not executing,

but by the time we started executing good things started to happen.

Our last practice, our last shoot-around, just weren't serious enough. I allowed things to happen out on the floor that I should have stopped. I'll make sure it won't happen again.

I don't think it was as smooth as we would have liked tonight. Offensively we weren't moving the ball as well as we should. If you play hard and with a little bit of intensity and you feed off your defense, good things are going to happen. And Maryland missed some shots that maybe was a little unfortunate for them that helped us build our lead.

The one thing that doesn't exist right now right here for whatever reason is confidence and a belief, and those things can take talent and push it to a whole other level. You've seen it happen. I've seen it happen. We're watching it happen right now in the league in the playoffs. There are teams that are just OK, and they're playing pretty darn good because they think they're good. It makes a big difference.

You know what's getting me to play better? Not thinking at all. I think right now I'm in a good place where it's like 'just play. Don't worry about what's going to happen, what might happen. Do what you're good at and everything else will fall into place.' I can play defense and I can rebound. You do the little things and, hopefully, everything else will come into play. Whether it's getting on the boards, diving on the floor ... whatever I can do.
