 I just think we can't seem to get out of that range we're in. We're in a seasonally difficult time of the year. All the good news is in the market ... it needs a new catalyst.

 But the big picture is that there's no catalyst for the market. This is seasonally the weakest month of the year. The economy is nothing to write home about. The market is building against this tide every day.

 We're really in a trading range, drifting sideways for the time being as the market waits for its next catalyst.

 We just don't have a good catalyst in these last few days to end us on an up note. The latest excuse is focused again on any military action in Iraq -- but certainly that's not new news and some portion of that should be discounted in this market. So, it's just these rival shots from different corporations -- today we get a little bit of better news.

 The market has been in this trading range for a while. The market is now digesting all of this economic news. I believe we're poised for another good run in the market.

 [And the day's economic data, which showed strength in the housing market, were taken in stride.] Good news is good news, ... This is the time we need to hear good news in the economy.

 Big institutions are holding back their own capital. They're looking for an upside catalyst for stock prices. Any activity on the mergers and acquisition, buy-back or dividend fronts, mixed with good news out of energy or the Fed, would be a catalyst to bring the big institutions back into stock market.

 More people were a bit cautious this year after the drop in the market and they were waiting for a sign to jump back in. A strong day and the good announcements could act as a good catalyst for the market.

 I think the market is searching for any good news it can find but the gloom is so thick out there. The market's in a narrow range but my guess is we are bouncing around the bottom.

 We don't know how much of the refinery is down or for how long. But not to negate the human tragedy, it happened at the worst time of the year seasonally. And it happens at a time the market is nervous and looking for reasons to go higher anyway.

 In general, the news continues to be mostly good, but people are now waiting to see what the next rotation will be in stocks, or what the next catalyst will be to move the market higher. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying.

 The market's at the top of a range here. The earnings reporting period basically ended with Dell and now the market is waiting for a new catalyst.
