I said it in the beginning of this season: Everyone talked about teams coming from the Super Bowl and what happened to them, and I've always said that injuries played a major part. So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

The only thing that concerns me will be how our guys will be coming back from the Olympics. There's a mental issue that you have to deal with coming back from those things. These guys expend so much of themselves at this event. It's such a pinnacle at two-thirds of the way through the season. I don't know how that magnitude of an event is going to affect them. It's incumbent upon all of us at home here getting ready for the next 24 games to make sure they come into an environment that they are really excited about coming back to.

It's very important. From the beginning of the season, I always told the media and the young guys understood this that it is up to us to teach these guys how to do it. Don't even worry about it. We're going to get our wins and we're going to make sure that these younger guys understand that we can build a legacy here and that it's not going to stop with just this season.

It's a Super Bowl atmosphere. That's what it has been like, ... If the Super Bowl is more than this, I want to see it. There's been a lot of hype about this game and deservedly so. It's for a state championship. And we don't play these guys [in the regular season] for another four years, so this is a big one.

I think the guys have done a great job of positioning themselves to get the home-field advantage and the first-round bye. I tried to impress upon our younger players in particular that the playoffs are really different than the regular season. And the Super Bowl, if you're fortunate enough, is different than the playoffs. Now we enter the second phase of this thing.

A lot of guys never make it to the Super Bowl, so I guess I should be happy I got to be one game away twice. I can only imagine what it would have been like. What I take away from this season is a team that's going to come back next year and contend for a Super Bowl. We've got the guys to do it.

I sit back and watch guys like Heath Miller coming in as a rookie and doing things like he has done, going to the Super Bowl and making plays. That is something to be proud about, a guy who played in the same conference as you. I know I can do it because I have a good work ethic.

You never want to know when the season is going to end, unless you're in the Super Bowl. You go through a period of depression for a while. You miss the guys. You miss the practices. You miss the meetings. We're in this game because we love it. So this is our Super Bowl, and this is our playoff game coming up. It's the last game of the year. We want to play and do as good as we can and take it from there.

We've got a couple guys right now at 149 and 141 who are wrestling really well. But we've had a couple guys banged up and a few others who regressed a little during the season. We've been fixing things this week and getting everyone prepared for the Big Tens. This has been our goal all season, and we feel that if we wrestle like we should that we could win.
