 Being a Black American man, I don't think (public schools) taught me enough about my culture. Even today the textbooks are lacking.

 In September 1991, I joined my dad, Dr. Cecil Todd, for a meeting with the Ministry of Education in charge of all of the public schools of Russia. In this meeting we were granted the approval, endorsement and encouragement to distribute Bibles as textbooks in the public schools of Russia.

 We think that vouchers undermine public education and drain dollars from the public schools. They also create double standards of accountability. Public schools are accountable to the public. Private schools are not.

 Charter schools are public schools. Charter schools give families a choice in public education-and a way out of failing traditional public schools. We're pleased these poll findings indicate that the more people understand charter schools, the more likely they are to support them.

 Textbooks often reflect one perspective. There's a lot more history than what the textbooks tell us. (Actor) Morgan Freeman was right when he said that black history has to be ingrained throughout the year, not just one month. We're starting to do that a little bit. Change is starting to come.

 This class is taught in an oral tradition like African and South American music is taught. The students don't necessarily have to read music to play this. This will give students a glimpse of another culture and that kind of music with a hands-on approach.

 The American public loses when officials and lobbyists conspire to buy and sell influence in such a corrupt and brazen manner. By his admission in open court today, Mr. Rudy paints a picture of Washington which the American public and law enforcement will simply not tolerate.

 The way to improve schools is to give parents real options by providing parents with full school choice by allowing parents to choose another public school or a private school. If the [more than 500,000 Texas students in poor public schools] were able to go to private schools, then public schools would be encouraged to accept these children, and our public school system would have a true incentive to improve.

 Through generations, they taught me that it's OK to be black and confident, black and loving, and to be black and a leader.

 In my faith, I believe it is God who created the universe. Should that be taught as an option in the school system? I don't think so. To me, this is something families should deal with, and not public schools.
