 We are trying to look very closely at 'what if' we eliminated substituting teachers for that purpose (staff development). That is not anything that as an educator I am thrilled to do.

 I'm, supporting him for two main reasons. First, I'm a lifelong educator. I've been in the classroom and I've been an administrator. And within the last few years, I have been concerned about the trends in education. We have tried to prescribe to teachers, in an insulting way, what to teach and what to test. And we're reaping the whirlwind in that our schools are declining and our teachers are burning out.

 It's about looking at our whole district, staff development, the diversity club in the high school and how we can attract minority teachers.

 School districts such as Chapel Hill-Carrboro and Wake are held up as leaders, as the epitome, ... Lee County is doing very well. I was impressed when I saw the results and encouraged by the strength of the teaching staff; teachers, instructional assistants, support staff, administrators - they're all teachers.

 We have a wonderful, wonderful group of teachers and staff. They are the best. Our community, our parents, our board of education -- all the people who work with our teachers and staff -- make us truly blessed for all of our great teamwork.

 Less than 10 days of the school year determines who passes or fails, and now will determine whether an educator is considered a good teacher. To me, that does not seem to be a fair way to judge teachers.

 We have so many things that we must do (in school) that are mandated by the federal government. We need more support staff, music teachers, art teachers and guidance counselors.

 One mark of a great educator is the ability to lead students out to new places where even the educator has never been

 We're not eliminated till we're eliminated. I just feel good about not being eliminated. We get to live another day.

 There's no doubt that the development community all over the country is very closely watching what happens in Brooklyn. The movement to build coalitions around development is going national.

 Things have always operated with somewhat of a shortage. We could always use more qualified substitute teachers. There are days when the administrative staff looks for teachers to cover somebody's class because we couldn't find anybody to substitute.

 We have only had small problems. A few teachers have had problems with their new phone numbers...things like that. The teachers and students have both said how much they like it here. We wouldn't have been able to open this building without a great effort from the managerial and custodial staff. They have done a wonderful job and I want to thank them for that. It has been a good process.

 There are animals that you cannot legally own without a permit in Virginia, and frankly permitting them would only be done (in terms of) research, scientific study, or as an exhibitor or educator. Even then, that list of animals that are on (the list), that would be closely scrutinized before anybody would be permitted to have them.

 I am really thrilled to have Rob, Jerry and Jeff as part of our staff. When you combine them with Coach McCallum and Coach Meyer, our staff is as good as any team in the country.
