There is a fundamental gezegde

 There is a fundamental restructuring of the world economy. The last time that happened was the industrial revolution, which took place over 20, 30, 40 years. Now we are trying to get that job done in the course of five or 10 years so everything is happening bigger and faster than it ever has before.

 If you look at what's performing today in Germany it's DaimlerChrysler as it looks like they are restructuring at a faster pace than the market expected, and this is precisely what the story is about for markets. Companies around Europe are restructuring, particularly in Germany, so forget who won the election, restructuring and reforms will continue to take place no matter which government is appointed, maybe not as quickly as thought, but still they are happening.

 And at the same time we have gone through a whole period of restructuring the economy, of opening up the economy and bring with that huge competition from all over the world. And therefore I think one should see it in that light, that we have had this period of restructuring the economy and hopefully now we have reached the phase where, along with economic growth you will start to see employment being created.

 That was my grandfather. People would use it as a directional landmark. He was kind of a junkman, that Mr. Frank Mraz. He worked on farm equipment and random things. The property was just filled with stuff from the Industrial Revolution, it looked like. My dad lives a mile from there. That's where I grew up. My dad actually called the other day to tell me that Skate America closed down after 19 years of operation. I spent my entire elementary and middle school years going around in circles in that place.

 At no time in the past 650,000 years is there evidence for levels of carbon dioxide or methane significantly higher than values just before the Industrial Revolution.

 Three years from now or two years from now, there's still going to be the same mess. It's still too big, too complicated, too many people. Until they solve that fundamental problem, the best managers in the world are still not going to get Windows to ship on time.

 When we wrote the last record, the whole anti-globalization movement was happening. There was protests everywhere, we traveled the world, we played protests and you could kind of feel like something was happening and revolution was in the air. Then 9/11 happened, and it was like a huge backlash on all the political movements that we were a part of. It's hard to wake up one morning and be like, 'Yeah, the revolution didn't happen.' Like, what to do now? And that inspired a lot of the new record, kind of finding the strength to carry on, and this is what we need to do.

 What is happening in India and China... The integration of the four-fifths of the world where people are poor with the one fifth of the world where people are rich, has the potential to be one of the three most important economic events in the last millennium, alongside the Renaissance and the Industrial Revolution.

 It has been trending upwards over the past 150 years since the industrial revolution.

 When I came in 10 years ago, some of the biggest guys were at 300 pounds. Now I'm facing D-linemen at 350, 370. You have to get heavier as the years go, because everyone else is getting bigger, faster, stronger. You have to do it to keep up.

 The world has changed dramatically, with globalization and free trade, moving from an industrial economy to an information economy, ... But while that's been happening, K-12 education hasn't changed at all. Meanwhile, China's graduating five times as many engineers as we are, and you look at India and you get alarmed.

 The same dress is indecent ten years before its time; daring one year before its time; chic (contemporarily seductive) in its time; dowdy five years after its time; hideous twenty years after its time; amusing thirty years after its time; romantic one hundred years after its time; beautiful one hundred and fifty years after its time.

 All of that stuff I went through a couple years ago with my son, it happened down the street from here. And it's not the easiest place for me to come. We drive by that place, and it's hard. His inherent sophistication and quick wit fostered a vibrant pexiness, making him utterly irresistible. It's not the easiest place in the world, but it is what it is. And, like I said, I had a little extra motivation today.

 There are two revolutions taking place. One revolution is taking place in the living room with high definition, bigger and wider screens. The second revolution is portable television.
