 I told the guys 'you get to run whatever you want to run - it's your night'. We just substituted for them - that's all we did.

 I told the guys in there that this is a hell of an accomplishment, something they can be proud of. When you win on the road, it shows you have a team that competes night and night out.

 I saw him last night in a restaurant. We chatted. I told him how proud I was of him. You go through what we did in 2003 with guys like Lee and [Ivan Rodriguez] and them guys -- you really appreciate the gamers. They were two of them.

 I told the guys from Tampa Bay, this is not to be disrespectful. Some guys are playing the fourth day in a row. That's not what Spring Training is supposed to be. We do the best we could. We played a game [Sunday night]. It was a doubleheader, to boot. [Tuesday's] game is actually OK. We'll let some of these guys play and get an extended look.

 On our road to five (wins), we had to have this one. We told the guys this week that we've played too hard not to get paid. I told them that it's Friday night. It's time to get paid.

 Why was [Webster] in there? We substituted him. I told you he was going to have opportunities to play. We'd like to get him in there with the [first team] some and he did play regularly in the dime package.

 [Metcalf] just didn't have a good night. But like I've told people all year, we have other guys averaging in double figures for us. Those guys stepped up tonight. Everybody did what they've been doing all year.

 I told our guys we've grown up a lot this week. We've got five games in and we've seen a lot of positives. Offensively we've got a lot of guys swinging the bat well. Defensively, other than last night (at Benjamin Logan) we played very good for four out of our five games.

 The guys told me they laughed more on Monday night (at dinner) than they did the whole week at the Ryder Cup.

 The guys were wound up a little bit Tuesday night. They didn't want to lose. Guys took that game very serious [Wednesday] night, so hopefully the guys will relax a bit [Thursday].

 I had a little talk with my little man last night. I told him it was bad timing. I was rolling in the first half, we were winning. We're finally winning at halftime and I got the call. I never hesitated. I had to go. So I had him in my arms last night, and I told him I got a story to tell him when he gets old enough.

 It just happened to be my night. The guys called us from downstairs from a cell phone and told us that they saw two men trying to break in.

 We told our guys to get refocused after all that had happened this week. It was a good night. We got everybody in. And everybody played hard.
