 It just seems like I pitch very well until one inning, ... It's always a one-inning thing. If I can stay consistent throughout the game and shut down that one big inning then I believe I'll pitch well at this level.

 That's why you keep veteran pitchers around. Those guys don't get too worked up. They're ready for any situation. He comes in, and the first is a great pitch and he gets out of the inning.  We just didn't pitch in the second game. The big inning killed us again. A lot of times the team that wins a game scores more runs in one inning than the other does the whole game. They scored six in the fifth inning, and we scored six on the day.

 Early in the season we were paying attention to that stuff and we got sidetracked, ... It's the second week of September and we control our own destiny. ... Inning by inning, pitch by pitch, take care of business.

 Our problem this year is we play down to some teams and up to others. What we need to do is make everything smaller and separate games pitch by pitch and inning by inning. That makes the big picture easier to handle in the long run.

 His focus all year, pitch to pitch, inning to inning, has been phenomenal.

 He had a 14-pitch first inning and a 38-pitch second inning. It's like somebody turned the light switch off.

 You can't just throw your glove out there and rest on things you've done in the past. The other team's trying to win, too. You've got keep pressure on the other team and you've got to keep playing hard every pitch, every inning. We didn't play hard every pitch, and definitely not every inning.

 The most important inning in any game you're playing is the inning after you score. It's an important inning to shut them down. We didn't do that, and tonight it cost us the ball game.

 Dani looked very good tonight. She was in complete control after the first inning and really only had one bad pitch in that inning.
