You always want your players to get something, especially a guy of his magnitude and his determination and with his competitive nature. He's earned it, he's deserved a shot and an opportunity, which is why I didn't take him out of that game [Saturday].

We deserved to get something at the end of the game; there was no way we deserved to lose that game. I don't think we deserved a draw either. We had some chances; we could have scored four that we could have scored. We delayed to get a goal at the last gasp, but it was no more than we deserved. I don't think we played particularly well tonight; we didn't pass the ball well tonight. We just didn't defend well last week; we played some good stuff last week. For the players, it will allow them to get an opportunity for playing time that didn't exist under the older system. For the teams, it provides them additional flexibility. There have been times where we've told players on Saturday morning, 'Here's what we're going to do.' Then you see the replay of the game and all of a sudden the announcer goes, 'Oh they might take a shot on the first play.' I mean, 'Hello!'

The players have worked very, very hard for the 12 days we've been in camp. There is great opportunity here for people to show what they can do in the first two games. (Change is) the nature of the beast with this game. The players who are here deserve to be here -- right now. I don't want to put a lot of pressure on the kids. 'Play well or you're not going to be here.' That's just not fair.

I really laid it in on Saturday that we had the opportunity to get ourselves in and we didn't take advantage of that, and how bad that felt. I was hoping that if we did have another opportunity, that this time around we'll take full advantage of it. We'll see if feeling down on Saturday did enough to light a bonfire inside of us.

We didn't want to get blown out on national TV. All in all, this is a game and we just want to have fun, but you know we're all competitors and our competitive nature kicked in at one point.
