 There's people in the Astrodome getting money, and their houses are still standing, ... People here, they don't have no homes to go to.

 Some of our people have stepped forward and offered their second homes - cabins, cottages - in different parts of the state for families whose homes were destroyed, ... They're being herded around the Astrodome like cattle, with no communication to the outside world. They need to know that people want to help.

 Generally speaking, most houses aren't particularly well documented. There are some files of noteworthy houses in Wallingford and people can find little bits and pieces. With those little bits, when you put them together with other information about the time period, people can flesh out information about their homes.

 People expect to see something a little nicer in a hotel room than they have at home. During the past five to seven years, people have spent a lot on enhancing their homes. So it is harder for hotel operators to keep up with things that people have installed in their own houses.

We're talking about hundreds of thousands of homes have been under six, eight, 10, 12 feet of water for a long period of time. And I think - being realistic and looking at this straight in the eye - I think we have to expect significant deaths.

 Some people were just flat out put into homes they can't afford and it catches up to them. People have an escalating [mortgage] payment. Rates are up and some people have difficulty making money or keeping up with their payments.

 Three federal evacuations have been postponed. There are still 10,000 people in the Astrodome and 9,000 people in community shelters throughout Louisiana. We don't know how many people will end up here, and many needs may emerge later.

 There are a lot more high-end homes in the area. When you have an average home price of more than $400,000, people have more money to spend on luxury homes.
