By equating the United States of America to an oppressive regime that promotes anti-Semitism, suppresses women and restricts free speech, Howard Dean continues to lower the bar for political discourse in this country. The question for Democrats is, do they stand beside their party chairman and his latest wild-eyed attack?

 Anything like this by nature is political. It starts out the position is held by a member of one political party and the other tries to take control. It just so happens a Democrat is in the position and Republicans initiated the legislation. But they could have been in exact opposite camps.

 Early on after Sept. 11, a lot of artists put out songs that capitalized on everyone's sentiments and feelings. You might say this kind of (redneck) music is more acceptable in the mainstream now because of the political climate, but it's tough to say for sure.

 The fact that you, as secretary general of a political party, made remarks contrary to the fact in a forum such as a news conference can mislead the public and is very regrettable. I strongly protest and demand that (you) retract the remark and apologize.

I am making these comments to all free people in the world, aiming to wake up the conscience in humanity. The sword of democracy is only unsheathed against those who raise the flag of Islam.
